Not let's hear it for it, just let's hear it. Obama's FCC is planning to authorize a rules change that will allow the F word on regular broadcast channels of radio and television at any time so that all the children can hear and learn.

Then TV would sound just like the vocabulary impaired jamokes there are running around in office buildings and second grade class rooms. Heaven forbid we TRY to IMPROVE rather than LOWER standards. I guess it is necessary to cuss all the time, we do need to be understood.

A win for free speech.

I guess you could look at it that way. It may very well cut deeply into advertising revenue. I would get tired REAL FAST of constant cussing on TV. There is just no need for it. It will make it much harder to teach children how to speak properly. I can see a lot of people getting rid of TV's if this goes through. Why is it necessary to cuss on TV? I understand "free speech". What about higher standards? Expanded vocabularies to avoid cussing. What about just plain being polite?

agree, wholeheartedly, with Layoutshooter.
I HATE how 20'ers and 30-ers are so loose with profanity.

I would use the actual words here, but wold surely get censured.
They plan on allowing the F word and S word, as well as full frontal female nudity.
If this is "a win for free speech", then why not allow nig---, and retard, and full frontal male nudity?

If the 20'ers and 30'ers are so blatant with the profanity now, wait until their kids grow up!!!!!!!!!! (Note, I said "grow up". I did NOT say "mature")

It is a win for free speech because they are removing a ridiculous restriction. If someone swears or sees a boob it is made out to be the end of the world. It is not a big deal and shouldn't be restricted by our government. I figure people should be able to raise their kids the way they see fit or watch a movie that might have swearing. Less government intrusion is a good thing.

Did you even read the link, or are you just reading what you want into it?
The FCC [which isn't "Obama's", BTW, it's everyone's] is asking for public input as they consider changes.
I'm not a frequent user of the f word, and don't care to hear a lot of it either, but used infrequently to make a point, I can live with.
Ditto for a flash of [nonsexual] nudity - it's nowhere near as offensive to me as the violence they think nothing of showing a LOT of, all the time.
As for worrying about the children hearing it, maybe you ought to visit a playground - kids of 8 & 9 have already heard it, believe me. Hearing it in the company of a parent would be a good time for them to be reminded "some things are reserved for adults, including language" and/or "other people's standards of behavior aren't our standards, dear."

Or, if it's how you teach your kids: "Let me hear you say that, or hear of you saying it, and I'll kick your butt into next week, buster!"
Whatever works.

Yeah, you hear it everyday, even on playgrounds, so it's OK then. HEAVEN FORBID, oh wait, I forgot, can't say HEAVEN it is government establishing a religion, we try to IMPROVE things. It's all good. Cussing, OK. Nudity, OK, Excess violence, OK, NO GOD, what EVER you do, NO GOD!!

Yep, freedom of speech.

Some people are big government people and want the government involved in everything, even what we see or hear on TV.

I don't want a lot of government interference
. Nor do I want them lowering standards of decency.
Are you ready to start F'ing dispatch and customers as part of your freedom of speech.

Or do you know THAT IT'S WRONG.

It would be a win for free speech. It will be a total loss for dignity, politeness, standards and vocabulary.

It will likely some day happen. The result will be totally predicable.

There will NEVER be a change in free speech laws as far as religion goes. The "left", for lack of a better term, wants and pushes sleaze. IF for no other reason to stick it to those who have standards. NO BIBLES in schools though, but Playboy and the Hip-Hop guide to cussing is OKEE DOKEE.

In that case it should now be fine to yell fire in a theater. If we're not going to expect certain standards of decency and morality then we shouldn't expect certain standards of conduct in other situations either.

Are the differing opinions here aligned to ages of the posters.
Older folks don't like it. Younger folks used to it find it more acceptable ?
I know Joe and I are similar ages. Don't know about everyone else.

Great analogy.

Just one question .... here in these forums... would any of you approve of such gutter talk?

And so that "you" (generic), can spout your potty mouth, I, and others, should just sit in the back of the bus and keep quite?

If I remember right, isn't it freely used on another expeditor forum ?
I read it once or twice and found it of little value.
The only poster I enjoyed has the gonads to use the same identity on that site and this site.
And he only posts when he has something intelligent to say.

There's another board? Imagine that ......

If you refer to Travels board .... that is a waste of bandwidth ..... profanity does not impress me. I'm no prude, and am often guilty of it. But I can clearly express myself without mastering the art.

It would seem that many cannot express themselves with out it. Cussing is OK, in it's place. It can even be fun. In front of kids? Nope. In front of people who are opposed to it? Not if I know they are . I am a FIRM believer in many of the "double standards" that have worked so well for so long.
