Leaving EO General posting forum

Been there with ya Dave, Dreamer completely dropped the ball NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL. Sink or Swim with your comments after over 1,000 posts I say TWO things that upset some upper powers. So be it .02% vs politics.

Take a few months off and regroup. Good Luck.....

Dave,

I too, have felt the need to leave for a while....actually, I just started posting again after being gone from here for almost a year. The Con-Way buy out prompted my return to the site as I knew there would be some information on it.

Sometimes "the powers at be" can make it challenging to post here....lol...and I truly, truly, really truly, do understand your decision to post no longer...but I personally wish you would reconsider it being a final decision. Give yourself about a week or so period to calm down etc.

A break from the EO fray can be a good thing if you find yourself getting too wrapped up in it. Time on EO is good. Time away can be good too. I'm look forward to your history project contributions.

I've never really quite understood the need for someone to post "I'm never going to post here again" unless it's a backhanded way to solicit pleas from others to not leave.

But, it works every time. :D

And, they always post again, even if it's just one more time. Always.

Post, don't post. The Internet will be fine regardless. ;)

One thing I learned a long time ago is: This is only the Internet. It's not real. It's the Internet. When you turn the computer off, turn the Internet off with it. Don't take it with you, don't take it to bed with you, don't dream about it, don't wake up thinking about it. Or about anything that's happened on it. Cause it doesn't matter. Truly. It doesn't matter. Cause it's not real. E-mail comes close, but even there people act and say things they wouldn't dare say to your face. Real is face-to-face. The Internet is the Sunday Comics.

If it gets to you, take a break. I will sometimes not even turn on the computer for weeks, except for non-internet activities, like finances, something like that. No need to make a grand statement, just quit posting one day, don't surf to it, don't think about it. Then, after a while, if you feel the interest in being so entertained, come back, read a little, maybe a post a little. It's entertainment. Nothing more.

Turtle,

You are so right but not dead on. I have said I am not posting before. I will speak for myself here and say, I said it so those that had become freinds would know where I disappeared too. Now Dave may have another reason I don't know.

I will also say you are dead on about the internet but it is fact that people develop relationships via the internet and it is fact it is becoming more of our reality every day.It is just tough sometimes to walk away from sometype of major blow to your person although I completely hear what you are saying and at the right time, I would most likely say the very same thing.

The internet is many things all at once. In EO's case, it is first and foremost a highly useful resource for people considering a career change into expediting and those in expediting who use it as an ongoing business resource. Very real and reliable information is posted here by advertisers, truck and truck service vendors and carriers. Industry topics can be discussed in the open forum, where statements can be very real and reliable, or less so with bad-faith or incompetent posters. Such is the nature of the beast.

The EO open forum is as strong as it is because it is moderated. Moderators do what they can to keep the Sunday comics out and the facts in. Nevertheless, it is still an open forum. I've met people who follow the forum like a TV soap-opera. They have their favorite characters. Each day they tune in to see what developed since the last episode.

The EO Open Forum. It's real and it's entertainment.

The internet as a whole may not be real, but EO is a very real place. It's full of real people sharing real experience and ideas. While there are ocasionally things said that are off the beaten path, the vast majority are things that are straight from the heart. A Team is right on the money when he points out that the mods keep things in line.

I think that Mr. Mayfield is a man that is very passionate about what he believes and the opinions he expresses. I suspect that he is confident enough in himself that he does'nt need to seek out positive strokes. After a cooling period we probably won't be able to get rid of the guy.

Thanks everyone

I was talking to one of my old driver's today that stopped by in his truck because he is signing on with Fedex tomorrow. He said Dave who cares what people say's or write's on EO, you and your FRIENDS know the truth that all that matters. He told me that if I stop posting I'm just letting them win. Well, Many of you know me and my temper and that isn't going to happen. So I'm back until I hit the road this week.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE EO, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE EO. ;)
