does it normally take awhile to get a truck leased on with a company?I have been working on leasing my truck to a company for over a month.i took their orientation,dot physical,road test,a slew of paperwork,DMV check.now i am waiting on a truck #.verifying employment for 10 yrs. was a nightmare(ive been self employed in another buissness for 10 yrs).i am wondering if this trucking idea is going to be profitable.i asked another driver what he made a week, his reply was $1500 and was with every load he could get.holy ##### that aint no money

It does take alittle while to process paperwork and get someone scheduled for orientation.
With regards to income, it depends on what your expectations and financial needs are.
You certainly want to weigh it all out prior to jumping in

It really should not take long at all. Each time I have leased on with a company, 4 times, they me approved and in orientation in under two weeks. They have approved me in a matter of two days. I moved trucks to Express-1 and had myself, other drivers, and trucks approved and rolling which included oreintation, decaling trucks, installing QualCom and insurance in 7 days.

As for income what do you need to make a week? Depending on what you asked that other driver and what he used as his answer can be very different.

Truck income, his income, is he an O/O, is he a driver for an O/O etc. this all changes the answer.

$1,500 was that his Gross or Net. If thats his Net he is doing good to fair Gross-he is going broke.

I would say it took me two weeks to get leased on to Try Hours. I contacted the recruiter had her fax me a application to my home. Then about a half hour later I faxed a copy back to her. After that I went to my agent/accountant/financial rep (i love this girl-- shes awesome) and she set me up with the bobtail (common name) insurance I needed. Then the next day I called the recruiter and she set me up for orientation the next week. After that I went and got my physical done-- they sent for my MVR and had everything ready on orientation day. I ran out the next day.
