WELL I HOPE I'M DOING THIS RIGHT! BUT HERE GOES, JUST ABOUT TO GET STARTED IN THE BUSINESS OF EXPEDITING AND I MUST SAY THAT IN GENERAL YOU FOLKS SOUND LIKE THE KINDA PEOPLE THAT I'LL LIKE WORKING WITH AND BEING AROUND! I'VE SIGNED UP WITH CTX, AND PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT ON A VOLVO EXPEDITOR RIG YESTERDAY! THIS IS SOMETHING I'VE WANTED TO DO ALL MY LIFE AND I'M FINDING OUT THERE'S ALOT TOO IT,BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I'VE WORKED IN A FACTORY AND THE THOUGHT OF GOING BACK THERE WHEN THEY CALL ME BACK FROM MY LAY-OFF MAKES MY SKIN CRAWL, I'LL BE VISITING THIS SITE REAL OFFTEN BECAUSE I'VE READ OTHERS ASKING THE SAME TYPE QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE & I HAVE ALOT MORE TO ASK! ONE OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD IS WHAT CLASS RIG WOULD BE FOR A TRUCK WITH OVER A 33000 GVWR? I WAS ABOUT TO BUY A TRUCK WITH A GVWR OF 26000 BUT THE DEAL ON THE VOLVO (2000) WITH ONLY 30000 MILES ON IT IS MAKING ME GET MORE ENDORSMENTS AND A CLASS B. I HOPE TO BE HEARING FROM OTHERS WITH ADVICE AND COMMENTS IN THE FUTURE! TAKE CARE AND WE'LL TALK TO YA LATER! SHARP327

You will be much happier doing this than with factory work. Just take your time and steadily learn things as they come. Most important rule- drive SAFELY! Make that your #1 priority. I have to believe EO is the #1 place to learn about expediting.
Feel free to post any questions you have. The kind folks with some knowledge will try to give you their best answers. Simply ignore any venomous or sarcastic responses, you'll get some.
I'm gonna guess your Volvo is a true class 8 truck. They are the best for highway running. It's only going to be able to gross over 33,000 if it has a tag axle. Will definitely require CDL B. Please post a list of its spec's, and I can tell you a lot about it and its capabilities, plus a few points;) to make things easier running one of these heavier units. I just had to learn them myself coming from a lighter class 7 (FL70) unit.
Best Wishes-

Hope breakfast was as good as it smelled for you. Welcome to the world of expediting, it is 10 times better than a factory. Hope the lifestyle suits you. And your in the right site to get good and bad information more good than bad. Like Weave said take it slow and easy, watch your driving #1 priority. Don't be afraid to ask the question and sift out the good answers disregard the frivolous ones, and you should be ok. Can't help you to much about the truck, I was demoted down from a semi to cargo van by insurance, but the others here can and reading past posts could be a help to you. Best to you.

Sounds like it is spec'ed out to the max with 40,000 lb rears and a nice powertrain. CTX is going to love you as you'll be able to scale some seriously heavy loads with the truck. I'm going to guess its empty weight is around 22,000, and probably has a 54,000 lb GVW, giving you a cargo capacity over 30,000 lbs. It's also rare to find a unit with a front axle capacity over 12,000, so that 14,000 front should give it a little durability advantage. Cummins are excellent diesels. It sounds like you'll be starting out with one heck of a nice unit that should serve you well for many years- a much better investment than a lighter duty class 7 that wouldn't hold up so well on the highway and have no resale value after 5 yrs. You made a smart move from the start ;)
Best wishes-
