Laptops and Log books

If anyone is interested there is a program out there that allows us to do our log books on the computer. It's called DDL or Drivers Daily Log. The major expediters will allow us to use this program. www.driversdailylog.com Panther is the only one that uses the generic log form that comes with DDL, $50. FedEx, Landstar, and Tri-State must get the $95 program to use specific print modules (log form).

Yupper Been Using it since 8 June 2005 my first boss made it a requirement and made me learn the program Its wonderful and I realy like it. I know the DOT Like it as well. I will say this if you get DOT and they ask for your Logs you tell them

1 I do the Driver DDL
2 I have a Printer and Print my Logs
3 Show them the past 7 days Printed if they ask
4 if they you for the day at hand fire up the computer and show them
how ever I keep a Blank copy for the day, with the info on it.

9 times outa 10, they say We dont need to see your logs when you tell them you got DDL on the computer.
thats the truth.

any way thats my two cents and Have a Safe One

PSS no matter what any one says it may be time consuming but the Program is worth its weight in gold and besides logs you can do your fuel and expenses as well. So if your an OOP Its a gotta have.
and if your a driver its just one less headace you got to worry about and the only signing ya do is your sig and initals on the printed sheets. no more messy lines to draw no more rulers ect LOL HG

By the way you can down load the free demo with the correct printer driver for FEDEX for 30 days and if you like it keep it. if you dont then forget it.

I've had the DDL for one and a half years and have been asked to see my logs once and because I had DDL they said forget it. You must get stopped a lot.

I am now on paperless logs with Panther and it is the best for me.

I've never used it, but I have logged quite a bit on paper, and one reason I'd switch to paperless: being lefthanded makes no difference. I like that quite a lot. ;)

Logging software and paperlogs are on their way out and EOBR's are on their way in! This is going to be the wave of the future.

PLL (PaperLess Logs) and EOBR's (Electronic On Board Recorders) are two different things and I believe EOBR's are not tamperproof because they are On Board. I follow the PaperLess Log myself. Everything is transmitted via a satellite to a homebase computer with two defaults, # 3 is for moving (on duty driving) and #4 is not moving (on duty not driving). #1 (off duty)and #2 (sleeper berth) are manual or womanual inputs by the driver and co-driver. Mileage and location are done via satellite as well. A very simple system that is tamperproof, so far..... All through the Qualcomm.

Fish, preciate the info, but please don't ever use the word 'womanual' again, lol - that's just ludicrous! We already know that anything a man can do, etc. Well ok, with maybe one or two exceptions.:p

My mistake... Cherie. In an effort to remain PC I suggested there are two categories of, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? I can't bare children. Clean the bedroom. Wash dishes. My wife told me those last two, I read the first one in Colin Cowherds, "Book on Whales".....
