Mark it appears you are on a Fact finding mission and that is terrific. If one was to answer if Company "X" ;

had the most
was the best
paid the most
etc etc , that answer would only be as good for a few minutes.

If you ask the Recruiter you get one answer. If you ask a driver from Company "Y" you get another answer.

I would suggest this as a source of info also. Write down a list of questions. Head on out to the Flying J or TA, or any TS you like. Catch someone heading back to their truck and ask them what they think.

CAUTION: Catch them heading back to the truck and not leaving. you may be interupting a nature call and your answers may not be the same. I have actually enjoyed several cups of coffee with some very smart people.

If you can find Husband and Wife Team, you struck Gold. The woman will lay it out many times with facts that often even surprises the husband .

I find that surprising. I don't drive for Landstar but have used their agents, and there is a ton of freight on any given day out of Chicago. Sunday of course, being the slowest.
I would think with the (Landstar America) office in Rockford, they would be busier. Maybe alot of their agents have trucks in that area? Not sure if they do or not.
I would call someone within the company and find out how many van loads a day they do out of Chicago.
I don't run vans, so maybe it is different, but it seems like they always have alot of light loads out of there.
Are there loads but the rates are cheap?
