Seen a Ford E 350 with Landstar express, look as though it was set up for expediting, looked at their web site no info.

Oh Ken, not so...They are using QC to match logs against driving and sleeping times. Several drivers, including yours truly, in deep poo poo For MAJOR VIOLATIONS and have been warned ADIOS if any more. I have heard several folks have left leam over this. Don't know about you, but I was told two years ago in orientation QC would never NEVER be used to audit logs... My audits began approx. Mar 01, 2007 so this is a recent. Seems to be affecting the solo guys more than team. If you think it's a joke, give Darrin Mark a call. He seems to be dialed in on it. Best wishes for continued sucess at leam.

Well Greg it looks like youn have been paying attention, Ken you keep thinking its a joke you won't have a contract for long they got a new program from com data that is used to audit logs and they are completely inflexible about it and don't even think about driving down the road to your favorite resturant to eat unless you log it period. And i do know of at least 4 people personally that have quit over this.

If their going to bust us for violations they need to have a more accurate system, when I talked to them about it they told me it was a mistake and those letters weren't suppose to be sent out. The QC is about 2 hours behind us when were travelling (except when on A&E) at best and usually in towns nowhere near where we were when they ping us.

Once again the violations we received where for my wife who was in the sleeper, we received violations that she did not log her location every hour for 5 hours. She went into the sleeper at noon in Kenly NC, her log didn't show us stop at 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9. That's why I say its a joke (ridiculous for Landstar to send out these letters), to track people while they are in the sleeper.

They do check your comdata cards and make sure that you fuel when you say you do. We stopped once on a Friday Night and didn't have to leave until Monday. On Saturday I pulled over to the fuel Isle and filled up and didn't log it and they sent a violation notice. I called them and told them it took 5 minutes to pull from the space I was at fuel and back to the same space. Their response was log it from now on.

Ken, I can only comment on what has happened to my friends who I trust not to tell fibs and my expierence. There were no if's, and's or but's..Any more log violatios occurring past the warning date and your lease would be subject to cancelation pending mgmt review. I certainly understand the need to be compliant, but I also understand the occassional circumstance that we as expediters encounter that require us to decide between being compliant or on-time.. I am sure many will say yada yada, but we all have been there. If you have a sattelite overhead providing minute by minute location up dates and a company choosing to check your logs against that info and punish you accordingly, it changes the way you conduct your business. I have decided to seek other opportunties, because afterall, it's their company and they make the rules. Really enjoyed Landstar for the nearly 3 years I was here and the money was GREAT and the folks here are super Sorrry for lenght, felt like typing:) :)

Ken, Greg is right, you need to take this very seriously, this started march 1st but they didn't let the cat out of the bag untill may and it has everyone in an uproar, log it as you do it or the WILL pull your contract, Contact Darrin Marks if you don't believe he will down play it but will tell you about the change, better yet go to BCO days-Rockford next month there are going to be a lot of BCOs there with a lot of hard questions about this and landstars direction

I must have missed something along the way somewhere because I can't see a problem with them confirming that logs match legal running.

running legal isn't the issue, its the glitches in the program, ex. a driver has a fuel receipt showing fueling in in Monroe, yet QC says he is in Detroit beach at that time, "major violation" according to leam you have to log it like QC. says you did it, they are not accepting any other form of proof and there are times QC. is wrong, so there lies the quandary, Do you log it like you did it or like Qc says you did it, kinda puts you in a no win situation to say the least, and there are a few other issues

I have talked to a few drivers and a couple of friends of mine who drive for them and they like it. No major complaints.

LEAM better get this log situation resolved pronto or they will become a cargo van fleet exclusively. I know a few straight truck drivers that have been very content with LEAM for years who are now leaving over this issue. All claim to have received multiple log violations while running perfectly legal.

I have also learned that there are several other expedite companys that have bought the software from comdata and are in the process of implementing so I figure it won't be long until we hear a lot more about this

I'd say my printed fuel receipt trumps their known to be inaccurate satellite report. With numerous reported and logged instances of trucks physically being elsewhere, including some in different states, Panther is well aware the QC can't always be trusted. I'd think anyone using the system would be. The QC isn't designed to be an accurate positioning tool, it's designed to be an additional profit center for the companies charging their O/O's a weekly fee for it. The positioning is just an extra feature.

Good example. It's 5 minutes after I posted the above. I just got off the phone with Panther. They sent me a load I couldn't legally run as a solo. They thought I was 124 miles from the p/u. I'm 342 miles from the p/u. They do show me in the correct city but the distance calculation is off by 2/3. The QC can not be trusted for anything more than a guess at location.

Leo -

Good point and I have learned that here at Panther. Not only does the $5.00 valued piece of QC system have you all over the place it is unreliable under alot of other cases as well, but, I will leave those for another time. I am unsure if it is the QC or the Panther procedures with the QC but something needs to either get fixed or thrown out the window at 65 mph.

I believe it is the QC and it's just so so at best and has nothing to do with Panther. Thankfully Panther seems to be aware of it's periodic schizophrenia.

Log Dept is aware of difficulties with QC and make adjustments when needed.

According to QC I was driving 165 miles above the posted limit, not bad for a 1998 FL70 with a CAT 3126, print out listed it as a violation but log dept ignored it.

One BCO lives in RENO and when he’s home QC posts him 166 miles east in Washington, NV so LHQ needs to manually reset his location.

They are aware it’s not a fall safe system and work with BCO and driver.

If you move your location it is required you log it, no if and or but about it.

You got to love it when the DOT is more realalistic than the carrier. Only talking about the personal conveyance use.
