It probably depends on the division. We have hauled loads for both of them in a Panther truck. Likely the same the other way, I am sure Landstar and maybe Fedex for example has hauled a Panther load.
Just the nature of the business.

Maybe those are bid loads by FedEx Express. I think Custom Critical has big customers in Memphis maybe thats why. Custom Critical is Under FedEx Freight. The CEO from FedEx CC is under the CEO of FedEX Freight that how it works.

I'm just guessing; but it seems likely that FXCC isn't bidding on the FXF loads. If they do bid; they might be bidding higher than Landstar. How do you know the rate?
FexEd Freight and FedEx Custom Critical are separate companies; they are "Cousins" more than "Brothers".
FedEx CC "E" units are there to serve possible FedEx CC customers; not FedEx Freight customers.
IMHO.

Dave: I thought that FXCC and FXF are separate opcos. FedEx CC is under FedEx Supply Services isn't it?

fed ex cc's rate is higher than what landstar is hauling it for, also, there are other companies doing the same for fed ex besides landstar, these loads out of memphis aren't expedite, they are bid on contracted loads,by all carriers

I agree with what the others are saying as thus far since I have been with All State Express I have hualed UPS,Fed Ex, National, LandStar,AAvert, just to name a few I think what it is ..is simple if the other company dont have any of thier own trucks near or around yet another company does then they send out an S.O.S for another truck to haul it ...I may be wrong but it makes since ...stay safe and stay happy

FedEx Freight and FedEx Custom Critical are each an Operating company within the FedEx family. The President of FedEx Custom Critical reports to FedEx via the President of FedEx Freight.

FedEx Freight utilizes many other carriers to supplement its fleet of trucks. It makes sense to me that they outsource temporary capacity requirements rather than increase fleet size for cyclical needs.

I think it's also reasonable to assume that the recent purchase of Watkins will obviate the need to use as many of the carriers that now enjoy the occasional FedEx Freight contracts.

Go set in the dispatch office or whayever office your company uses to accept freight, bid freight etc. You will not believe how many loads they accept then pass out to other companies. You will also be surprise how many other companies calling them to see if they want loads.

This is just business

when i started with egl i was surprise how many different carriers that egl use, i though we would haul or own freight, and we would use other carriers to go places that egl didn't go
or it was cheaper to use them instead of one of our driver as it cost more to use us, and that didn't make us very happy and we could have done and they would tell us why send one truck to area with one piece and tie it up when it could do more in area
and you learn so much by accident

I read an interesting article fomr a transportation consultant - it was the amount of freight that goes through multiple brokers and each one takes a percentage. examples used up to 5 brokers before a shipment was dispatched. I heard about this before but seeing examples and some of the work flow used to get these shippments covered is amazing.

Well my conclusion is freight has to move somehow.
