well, I'm getting out of chicago at just the right time. 1 forecast I read said possibly up to 18 inches of lake effect snow for northwest indiana tomorrow. enjoy.

A lake effect snow warning is in effect for Porter and Lake County in far northwest Indiana. This is a dangerous situation and the National Weather Service is using strong wording in their latest warning.

During the evening travel will likely become extremely dangerous if not nearly impossible within the most intense snow band due the combination of near zero visibility and extremely heavy snowfall rates. Strong north winds gusting to between 30 and 40 mph at times will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow with blizzard conditions.

Please stay alert of the rapidly deteriorating weather conditions tonight and Saturday morning if you live in this favored snowbelt area of Indiana. If you don't need to head out on the roads, don't go out!

Head for Laredo guys, could be somewhat warmer IMHO> macho and snow make for bent fenders and ruined afternoons.

I just got in yesterday evening, tired of course. Dispatch asked if I would do a run to Battlecreek, I had to say "no" because I knew I was an accident waiting to happen if I went out again. Then after hanging up I suddenly remembered the lake-effect warnings I'd been hearing since Thursday afternoon and said to myself-- "Good to duck that one" because the route from here to there takes you right through the worst of it-- I-94 all the way.

Got about 4-6" of snow out here in the NE Ohio area....just got in from shoveling out the driveway. I seen it's supposed to be back in the 40's by Thursday....:)
