I live in Peoria, IL where they have the head office for komen foundation since susan lived here in peoria. And when they have the run here every year its great men and women supporting the ladie and MEN with breast cancer. Yes men can get breast cancer also ladies. SO with that said you should have men also in the convoy because guys like myself have had ladies in our life had breast cancer my mother had cancer than god it got cured, and several of my aunts have had it and thank god they all beat that nasty dreaded disease.

god bless you all its a wonderful thing your doing I admire this allot.

And may god help everyone either not get that dreaded cancer or beat that monster of a disease.
Why thanks, folks. Suzette is also here on EO as Century49.
Are there any other expediters planning on taking part in the convoy? Information is available at:Cindy Stowe's - Convoy For A Cure USA
It was just decided today that in addition to the planned events on Saturday, October 16, there'll be an informal BBQ on Friday evening.
Positioning in the convoy is determined by the money raised by each truck, so if you want to see expediters leading those big trucks Suzette and I welcome sponsorships. :D
Bolt Express, the employees, and the contractors have been supportive from the minute we let them know we'd signed up.
Thanks for bringing this up Chef.

This Saturday is the big day for the convoyforacureusa.com. If you are in the Dallas (or Houston, Laredo, what's a little deadhead?) please come join in. ;)
I live for my stomach, so Friday night we'll be serving up chicken fajitas, layered nacho dip, and what ever else finds the way to the grill. The official bbq on Saturday will include burgers, brauts, salads, Cindy's beans, cake, etc. :p
There will be an auction and drawings. Some of the sponsors who've provided products are Airtabs, Scrub-blades, Save-a-load, and more. Entertainment includes live music and a clown that does face painting and balloon animals.
The weather is scheduled to cooperate with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 50s. :D

Hey Jeanie,

Good Luck This weekend. Gonna be in Detroit. My g/f is running the Marathon and her sponsors/donantions are for your cause as well.

You met us/we met you in Wilmington this past July2010. You were getting ready for the BBQ on Saturday and she and I helped you unload the grill from your truck...She still calls it the "air-tab" truck,... now when I talk about the T800 I drive, she knows what a KW is ;-)

So thanks for teaching her!!! You made a big impression on her being out there on your own.

You have the nicest T300 on the road....

Drive Safe and have a great time

If it needs dedicated, how about to those who are fighting the monster? I'd rather my daughters never have to worry about it, ya know?
I've got my fingers & toes crossed for a load that way, will call you if it works - if not, rock on [& get pictures!] :)

For those of you that missed the announcement that the convoy is changing to a sit-in,
Expediters Online.com - The Expedited Freight Information Center.
The party in the parking lot is going to go all day. I've heard that some are saying it's cancelled completely. That is untrue. Cindy is trying everything she can think of to convince them to change their minds.
Look at it this way . . . if they capitulate it was a great marketing ploy. Got the buzz going about the fund raiser now didn't it? :p

Really to bad such a great cause is tangled up in bureaucracy. Still a great thing that everyone involved is doing.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their support.
Despite the lack of a permit, we did convoy. Okay, if it had taken place after dark you would have thought we were looking for parking places. We circled the T/A parking lot. :p
We didn't get pictures of all the trucks lined up. But here is a picture of all the drivers.
There were 13 trucks, which considering all the bad publicity right before it just shows how stubborn some of us are. From talking to the survivors that were in attendance, I think that is a key ingredient to winning the fight.
Thanks EO, for your support and there was talk of having a booth at the Expo again next year. :D

That's what will beat the monster: never, ever giving up! :D
Great job, Jeanie, and everyone involved, looking forward to next year already.

I am glad that this is happening but I would like to see the same effort turned into fighting other cancers.

In the past four months, I have been inundated with products that were plastered with that pink ribbon, it bothers me a lot.

Within my entire family, not once has there been a case of breast cancer. Lung, Colon, Bone and Prostrate cancer has been the leading cause of death in my family, and seeing there are more Prostrate cases popping up (and there are more than breast cancer cases according to several cancer centers), maybe we need to also focus on fighting that?

Not to take away from GG's efforts, it is great but we need to also worry about other cancers too.
