Got this email today. It is about some projects, and private money, that the Ilitch family is investing in Detroit. This is cool, assuming it's for real.

world-class, mixed-use sports and entertainment district in Detroit

DETROIT – Olympia Development of Michigan today announced plans for a sweeping transformation of dozens of underutilized blocks between downtown and midtown Detroit into a world-class Sports and Entertainment District. The project will connect existing and new development efforts in downtown and midtown Detroit along Woodward Avenue with five walkable, livable mixed-use District neighborhoods.

I'm surprised you haven't heard about this. It's been in the news for a while now.

They said a detroit fueled design. Does that mean a lot of parts falling off,

The city needs to spend money down there but I thought they were broke.

It has to be spent. I don't know where they are going to get it, but it has to be done or the city will never recover.

These investments will occur concurrently with the development of the new District neighborhoods and arena.

This email was sent out today, by Ilitch holdings, that's all I know. I don't pay attention to this stuff. I know the rink has been in the works for a long time. I just posted about the email. He made some kind of "major announcement today. I did not hear it, I am not home.
