U.S. manufacturing growth slowest since Sept. 2009

The pace of growth in the U.S. manufacturing sector tumbled in May, slackening more than expected to its slowest since September 2009, according to an industry report released Wednesday.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said its index of national factory activity fell to 53.5 in May from 60.4 the month before. The reading missed economists’ expectations for 57.7.

What slowness?
Why must you always take the opposite stance....?

all the month end stats are coming out....things have stalled and/or are contracting again...and we'll be entering plant shutdown season shortly...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The Federal Reserve said Wednesday it would again maintain its key interest rate near zero as the pace of the US economic recovery was more sluggish than expected.
"The economic recovery is continuing at a moderate pace, though somewhat more slowly than the committee expected," the policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee said after a two-day meeting.
"The slower pace of the recovery reflects in part factors that are likely to be temporary."

Don't be so touchy.

I haven't for the last year and a half seen the "slowness" that you speak of, and I don't see the "slowness" anytime soon, sorry.

Yep, I am starting to see things slow again. Home sales are dropping and are their lowest point for the year so far. Keep in mind that June and July are normally BIG months for real estate. People buying or selling to move while school is out. If it is slow in the busy months, what will happen latter?

So, stagnant or dropping home sales effect the expediting business? Hmmm.....did not know that.

to a certain degree yes.....no new appliances being sold...no Whirlpool loads...no speciality items shipped...even Home Depot uses expedite when they mess up an order....
Pro Building supplies uses expedite as well....

The dropping home sales are just one example or, better yet, a "reflection" of what is going on all over the economy. As things slow it will have a greater affect on expediting and transportation over all.

as insignificent as it is...any loss of a load opportunity has a ripple effect...

People are scared. Many out there are NOT as stupid as our "lawmakers" are. They KNOW that no one or no government can spend money the way they are without things going town the drain. Scared people don't buy, the hold back. For good reason.
