My husband and I joined up with a company. And we need a third eye to look at this. We chose a company and off to the gate we went!
We were so excited! thursday orientation was over, and we posted up at a local pilot. friday morn we get a call to return to the office to sign some other paperwork. ....I called disp to inform them on thursay we were ready to go...I called disp friday just to make sure um.. all was well( r we n svc?), and Saturday i called disp and was told. expedite dispatchers dont work on the weekend. Huh?...So, let me get this straight. signed up with company on thursday. (team) Not 1 load offer as of yet. My hubby says i have no patience and maybe they got thier wires crossed. i think this company is starting out on a really bad note. Im throwing this to the forum. Maybe Im crazy, (its possible) maybe he's right(it's happened before) Help.x(

I leased on as a solo with express 1 a while back, it was okay i guess, they never got me out of the midwest. mi,oh,ky,in- i averaged between 800-1300$ a week. lots of short runs. i dont think express 1 would have a team sit at 4 miles from the office for 4 days after straight out of orientation.

At the risk of yet again being accused of being too blunt, how long did you research this business before signing with that company? I'm not sure I've heard of Rush as an expediting company. Apparently they are a very small company that doesn't have around the clock dispatch. That doesn't bode well for job procurement. Are you driving for a fleet owner or in your own truck? You probably have gotten your first glimpse at what is going to happen most weekends with that company. It's somewhat late but I highly recommend you read back at least 1 year in the general, newbies and recruiter forums on here. You'll gain a lot of useful information.

I think your right, we checked out 8 companies and spoke with the recruiters. Some of the recruiters seem to blow alot of smoke. We own the truck and truely just want to work. we spoke with this conversed with this company for over about a week before closing the deal. We had 5 pre-approved applications from other expedite companies. I'm embarassed a little...i told my husband that teams were in demand and blah blah this and that. And here we are sitting in the dag-gone pilot day 4 and counting. not 1 load offer.

they r posted up on this website. Im familiar with a few of the companies that advertise on eo, they have mostly solo drivers for expedite.

There aren't very many loads that get dispatched for a Saturday or Sunday pick up. Usually Saturday loads are covered late on Fridays unless a customer calls in on a Saturday or Sunday. So based on what you said about having to go back on Friday to sign more ppwk you really probably have 1/2 day waiting for a load. What type of unit are you driving? As someonelse said you need patience and you also need to manage the frustration. Not having dispatchers available on weekends is kinda scarey just about every company out there usually has someone available to cover possible weekend shipments.

If you are speaking of Rush Transportation in Dayton,Ohio I can tell you that the only dispatcher on duty over the weekend is a guy who checks the messages on his cell phone a couple times a day to see if if any loads are coming in for monday. They appear to be in the process of switching over from primarily a local courier/light freight transfer company into a full expedite company. I have worked for them in the past and I really liked them. I only left when I did because at that time I wanted to travel further than just around southwest Ohio. Their management is sound. They are just in transition at this time. If you'd rather not experience growing pains while you are just starting out, you may want to try someone else....

you are probably right about my lack of patience, i really wish i could hurry up and get some. (joking-sort of) we are in a D unit.
My hubby said they must of had some wires crossed, we arrived for orientation on wed- they d.o.t. my truck- had to get some minor things done. 3 hrs work @ freighliner. returned to the office. dot completed. sat in on thurdays orientation. and the rest is history. I stated all that other info- just to make the pt that we didnt just pop-in thurday. or the new face on friday. we were there.(truck decal, qualcomm, fuel cards ect - all done on thurdsay) prior to signing up- I asked recruiting if disp was avail on the wkds. during orientation i asked the exact same Q. no one said -Not yours! jeepers. we were the only straight truck o/o in orientation. I asked questions pertaining to us. This is our first attempt as a team, not our first experience in the industry. i understand the hurry up and wait game in expediting. I guess we were thinking they would at least get us out of the starting gate. what i think and what i know are sometime very different so i ask questions, and i listen closely. thank you for the post- im a lil ticked not at anyone here, I just think i must have missed something or didnt ask the right q. to this company. crap!

And... You have a Holiday on the 8th. But yes, you may have shot yourself in the foot by not having your truck ready when you showed up. As you know this is a game of seconds, sometimes.

I dont know what size truck you have.but if your going into expedite, make sure the company has 24hr 365 day dispatch, not that we do many week end loads, but expedite is what it is,and sometimes a customer needs sat or sunday pick ups.you need to get out of where you are as soon as you can
good luck

Again....maybe harsh, but I would give it a few more days since you are already there. In your travels or excessive rot time if that continues, start REALLY researching this site and its archives. Additionally, start talking to drivers and their respective companies.
Switching companies is a expensive proposition, but this is a business to really be researched. Once you have the specific questions, then talk to the recruiters.
This may be of value if you have to consider a fast change.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
