Wombat,

Glad you are okay and out of the hospital - that had to be one the creepiest things I've read here in awhile.

When I was a kid, I had a friend that ended up with a moth in her ear while she was sleeping. They had to take her to ER to get the thing out, it was still alive and buzzing in there. Waaaay into my adulthood, I slept on my side with my ear covered with my sheet......freaks me out just thinking about it.

Had the same thing happen to me when I was a kid..Dad rolled up a piece of masking tape and stuck it in my ear...the moth stuck to it and it pulled right out. Always did think my Dad was a genius!:)

About 20 years ago I was sitting in the line at the drive-thru at a Wendy's after just ordering. Suddenly, a moth slammed into my left ear through the open window. First instinct was to jam a finger in there. Whoops. It would alternate between not moving at all, dead silence, and apparently laying on my ear drum beating like bongo drums, which would throw my balance off totally.

I went to th ER and they stuck what looked like a cross between a ginromous needle and a turkey baster in my ear and flushed out a live moth the size of a butterfly. It flipped and flapped, then flew about the room. Doctors said it happens all the time. It was a first for me, that's for sure. They did say that was larger than most they see.

I must say Wombat(Pete) is a very good driver and does take very good care of a truck. Pete started out in Expediting as my co driver about 11 years ago. There is not to many drivers I can go back in the sleeper and fall asleep without thinking he is going to get into a accident.

Glad your okay Pete and call me sometime as I don't have your new number.

"Creepist things" Cattle should be dehorned by the sign(s) of the moon. I helped a local rancher a few years ago dehorn some mean cows. He told me it's not the right sign, but there dangerous to all concerened. A few months later we have them back in a head shute. Pour some gook that looks like roof cement into the still healing holes in the cows head. In about two minutes or less Red bugs about the size of ants come crawling out of her skull. Two days later she's fine.

Didn't see the episode ...... but they might have called it an earwig, which is actually a real insect:

Earwigs and people

As for the comments on their pincers in the above referenced link not being dangerous that's probably true ... but they can give ya a pretty good tweak .... (ask me how I know :D)
