Just asking- Carolinas

What is the skinny on the Carolinas these days. I have been told even by a Panther team, that it is harder to get out these days. Is it possible that a lot of expediting companies has increased the competition, or is that some more regionally based ones like Nations, et al., have snatched up the accounts, and run the stuff north. I do see Nations up north a lot, and then they seem to sit. I know LEAM was always active in the CHA board, so just curious. Any ideas?

Folks, when will you ever get it understood that... Everywhere is not good everyday, and everywhere is not bad every day. Like the weather, stick around, it'll change.

Have a truck there today (Wilmington, NC) and loaded out in a few hours. Can't say we have ever waited for a load out of there.
Panther does alot of loads in and out. Having a office in Charlotte probably helps as well.

Most of the eastbound freight off the west coast comes out of LA or San Diego. But....you might luck into something. Running around doing mini's out there can't be too profitable.

Thanks Dave but actually I am moving down to San Diego from San Francisco tonight to sit in a parking lot (reset my hours) so I can wait for some special freight to go to Phoenix and then back to San Diego Saturday.

I have had a bunch of mini runs yesterday and today to and from one company and their suppliers, but glad to get out of here for a little bit.

Am I the only truck in California?

Yea, copy that. I got out of Memphis on Mon. with some fuel money. Now I have been running hard since. Carolinas not too bad, I got out by running over 200 to make a pick that took me up to Knox. Today I'm out, back to IN. So- take it and go. Sometimes just best to move. I was stuck once for two days in N. Carolina, so maybe just hit it on the wrong day!

As a B unit I have found it very difficult to get out of NC and SC; Charleston being the one exception.

I try not deliver into the Spartanburg, Greenville, Charolette area (or any place east of Atlanta on I-85) after Wednesday. Normally, if I am not loaded out of that area by Thursday evening, I will sit there until Monday.

Last night the board for just one carrier showed 3 A units and 14 B units available within a 100 mile radius of Charolette. Also, 12 D units, 7 E units, and 4 F units.

In the final analysis, if your carrier provides you with access to unit positions (real companies do) it will not require a greaat deal of research to quickly determine the areas you need to be positioned in at any given day of the week.

Sticking around in Charolette for 3 days might allow you to see some changes: the weather, fuel prices, different TV programs, new faces, etc. BUT sticking around does not pay the bills.

Information is power...use it to your advantage!

F unit must be;

a super-duper E unit

a double E unit

or someone who runs his truck like they ran F troop.
