I bid a Memphis to NC run at .75 and didn't get it. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
I am just beginning to get a handle on what we do. Murray, Dave - correct me, but, as I see it, it has less to do with Eastern European, and more to do with fingers in the pie. .85¢ for us becomes $1.20 for our carrier, $1.50 for Active, Schneider, etc. And $1.65 for broker, effectively doubling OUR cost??

In the grand scheme, yes.
In their defense, it costs big money to put a sales force out there. That piece of the pie rightfully goes to whoever spent that money.
But after that it just comes down to who passes off their work to the truck shepherds.
Many air freight and 3pls are just too busy to mess with every aspect.
Especially when "getting a truck" is as easy as sending an email to an internal group address.
Trust that once the sales staff is paid, everyone else is fodder.
But kudos to the layer that pays the active sales staff. They need the "first cut".
