I've seen a couple. I think they only have about a hundred at the present time.

who is that van driving for over there?

OH there is something on the side of the door, let's get closer to see who it is.

a little closer....

a little closer......

a little closer..................

Van driver - "Mister.... why are you looking at my door with a huge magnifying glass... all it says is UPS expediting."

I have seen three vans and one truck, but the truck I am not sure if they are part of the expediting division.

On the three vans, one only had a sign that was large enough for me to read. The other two had signs so small that I had to get a few feet away to see what is said.

Speaking of UPS, I have been seeing more UPS delivery trucks pulling trailers, what is that all about?

Those trailers are like package dumpsters; they drop them off in the morning, the shipper fills them and they pick them up in the afternoon.

UPS as a company has a tradition of being slow to diversify into other sectors of the transportation industry. They began shopping for a LTL carrier in the late 1980's. Look how long it took them to buy Overnight from Union Pacific. Of course those last few years were probably spent waiting for Overnight to sever their ties with the Teamsters. When the decision is made that expediting is a market that they want to enter fully, they might just buy up an existing company or two.

Maybe jrbears could post an update.
