FedEx Freight Adds A.M. Delivery

1/19/2009
FedEx Freight is now offering FedEx Freight A.M. delivery, ensuring delivery by 10:30 a.m. backed by a money-back guarantee. The new service is designed to offer greater flexibility and control to shippers.

The time-definite service is easy to use, economical and provides customers with streamlined pricing, according to the company. Customers may select FedEx Freight A.M. service by making an online request or making a selection on the bill of lading. This simplifies the process by eliminating the need for customers to call for a price quotation and service commitment. FedEx Freight A.M. is priced with a flat rate, enabling customers to more accurately plan budgets.

Shippers in a variety of market segments have asked for time-definite morning deliveries, including wholesalers, manufacturers, suppliers serving retail markets and producers of high-value goods.

Who knows...the Feds have such a varied network..they could transfer the freight to any division to make it work...

I just did a Conway CCX load that was quaranteed next day delivery by 5pm....They need our help!! to pull it off...:D

to continue that line of thought ...IF these big LTL guys get into a Pizzin match over this next day delivery...WE will be busier....

I think very little. Nothing new here...Roadway and Yellow have offered that kind of service for years.

What separates expediting from LTL expedited services is this:

- 60/90 guaranteed pick-up & delivery - 24/7
- Exclusive use
- No weight or size constraints
- No location/terminal restrictions

I don't think that it will affect us all that much. We are White Glove TVAL. We can haul most everthing (except explosives) that White Glove handles. We are exclusive use, etc. If anything it MIGHT increase our business. When a shipper calls in they might choose to up grade to Custom Critical for the benifits we have to offer. FedEx seems to be fairly good at cross selling thier products. We shall see. I am not too worried though. Layoutshooter

I think that it could only be good for FECC,as it will mean even more rescues from FEF when they can't make the required delivery times. We have already done 5 of these this year so far,and most of them have been good miles and not to bad on the pay.:D

Well and fine Lawrence...we've been doing this LTL stuff for a dogs day....but me thinks as I said...if these guys heat up their playing field, we will be the recipients of a few more loads....

This is very true but you have to understand that if FX can get the freight to either their Ground or Home delivery division by the AM then from there the cost to FX is only +/-1.50 as an oppointment delivery.

I owned a "Home delivery" contract/fleet (whatever)and I was amazed at the freight we handled. (Express, Ground, and yes CC). As a "Home Delivery" contractor it only cost FX pennies on the dollar to add it to one of my trucks. I made a couple more bucks for an oppointment delivery.

With that said I think FX is great at trying things that "look good on paper" but arn't good for the drivers and or practical in the field thus I do think that this will create some work for the CC side.
