Is the multi-carrier business model worth it?

But Ken aren't you the one that's always saying run less make more??? Well you have to run your truck to wear out the brakes.

For the right driver I think a Sprinter is the way to go. If you are the typical American meat head then running a Ford or Chevy HCV is the better option.

I know I place a high importance on being able to stand up straight to put on my pants in my sprinter lol. That and when I'm empty it makes for a nice pacing space waiting on the next load.

I put well over a million miles on my last three COEs.
My wife still laughs out loud if she catches me laying on the bed at home to put on my pants.

Somebody has to give him a hard time since John slacked up on him.
My point was not to run cheaper all the time....having the ability to be more flexible and STILL make a profit to get out of a tough area...obviously more is always better then less...

I think the bad thing about doing a load for less once in awile is that the customer may expect us, or the carrier, to do it for that cheap all of the time afterwards. Just sayin'

fine, you sit for the sake of nickle, I'll run the load.....just saying....:)

meaning you know the same identical load can be bid out 3x a day and each time will be at a different rate...depending on time of day and truck availability....supply and demand

One nickel becomes two nickles...two nickles become three nickles...You know I do take loads that pay less than the normal here, but I also have my limits. I am not going to give myself away, either. We are better than that, and deserve to be paid accordingly.I am more concerned about the all mile pay than anything. It does no good to take a high paying load if there is so much deadhead in it, etc, that the all mile pay ends up being in the toilet. Some have no clue as to what their all mile pay is, and wonder why they are not making any money at this, or deadhead so much, either chasing freight, or worried what number in line they are, that it could hurt them...be patient, with a good attitude, and it will come.
