is the looming Swine Flu pandemic just nature's way of thinning the herd?

Just an example. We have a rather high infant death rate do to many reasons. One is even cause by our advanced medicine. We often are able to give infants a shot that would be born dead in many other areas. They most often die any way but it squews that average. There is really little difference in the devoloped countries. The big difference is we DO NOT have a policy such as England does. We have far more options than England. They don't get the full shot at modern medicine either, they have less of a shot. I recogmend a year or two trip over there to see. Don't only do the tourist stuff either. We lived in one of the richest towns in all of England and I was shocked at the lack of modern medical care, modern hospitals and the almost lazy attitude of the British health care people. Not all just over all. layoutshooter

The one reason we have a high infant mortality rate is the lack of education in this country coupled with the higher teen mothers. The care is there, in many cases absolutely free but there are less than ideal stats showing that an average expected teenage mother doesn't see any doctor during most of the duration.

The other thing that is left out of this is the fact that we allow some women to work in conditions that put the baby at risk. One such situation was a trucker who gave birth in her truck while she was under a load, AND she still delivered the load on time after she gave birth. She was technically handicap by law and should not have been allowed to drive but because we are such a caring nation, we praise her for her stupidity and risk taking. Wonder if the kid got hurt if she fell out of the truck, who pays for that?

The Brits do have better beer but with the upswing in the number of micro-brewerys we are catching up fast!! Lots of good US made beers out there now. All that liquid grain is healty for you so we should gain a few years as our beer improves!!! LOL :D Layoutshooter
