i've been reading post from people like myself who are thinking of starting out in this business, and alot of comments from alot of the vets suggest that now is not a goodtime, and that it hasnt been for the last few yrs, but yet i go to the survey section and print up whos paying what and the number and see the high percent of people that are doing well money wise, i have to ask have you all inflated your stats, or are some of the (now is not the time) post false, because looking reading the post then looking at your stats, well they just dont add up, so which is closer to being right?

You have an interesting post. The fact is what those "stats" tend to do is uncomplicate what is the complicated. What you don't see is the other half- the O/O's profit margin. For a while I have been recommending a free book from overdrive (www.overdriveonline.com) called "Partners in business- A business manual for owner operators and small fleet owners."
This manual, which in my opinion is excellent, can get you on the right track to see if owning and operating a truck is the thing for you.

Somewhere on this site I read a post from a driver that was
observing other expediter trucks that were traveling. Can't
remember for sure how it went. But, it was something like this.
He noticed 1 Panther, 2 tri-state, 1 fedex and 6 or 8 ma and pa.
Lemme see 1+2+1=4 for the big guys. And, lets say 6 (for argument
sake) for the ma and pa outfits. Guess we ma and pa organizations
are making a statement without saying too much. Possibly, you should
look outside the big three or four for a lucrative opportunity.
