Is landstar still the leader in expediting?

Really as a Moderator your trying to start drama. Come on Tom you need a rag to remove some of that brown on your nose.

Sent from my SM-N900P using EO Forums mobile app

No not trying to start drama, just making a funny post. Has nothing to do with being a moderator. I have a rag, it has a load one logo on it. LOL

But, if you look at the growth load one did surpass all others in the 12 month period.

If you're counting carriers above a certain size. We nearly doubled our revenue from 2012 to 2013, and 2014 is shaping up to be about a 30% increase from the previous year. When you're small and growing, those kinds of percentage increases are more likely anyway.

Where UPS post their loads?

UPS does their expedite business different from most of the rest of the companies in this business.
They also use a lot of the other companies like Tri-States, Ceva, Express 1, etc., to do some of their expedite work for them. They job out a lot of loads (that is oversize for their other divisions) to these other companies. I have done a lot of their loads that had items over 100 pounds, just because those are over size to their regular trucks. Lots of their loads get done by people that do not realize that the load started out as a UPS load of some type.

They also have their big truck division, UPS Freight, that they bought a few years ago from Overnite that does their truck load loads, but this is mainly general freight that goes from terminal to terminal. They also have "logistics warehouses" (Supply Chain Solutions Division---some of these divisions are members of Sylectus), and they use their independent contractors and agents to deliver items from these warehouses for them.

Basically, they consider all their many and various divisions to be "expedite", but you won't see their independent contractors at truck stops sitting in trucks, (waiting for a load), with UPS signs all over them, like all the other companies in this business. When I was an independent contractor with them years ago, they would not let us use their signs on our vehicles, no matter what type or size.

I'm glad you have your Load1 Pom Poms out being a cheerleader for Load1. John Elliott has done some great things with Load1 the last four years as far as growth, not the past 12 months. Load1 growth has been almost 50% growth the past four years. Load1 is the fastest growing Expediter since 2010. John can post the real numbers of what the fleet size and the gross revenue was in 2010 vs what the are now in 2014 if he wants to back me up on this. Knowing John he may not as John is a very noble man, meaning John is not all about bragging.

Safer web only reports what the carrier reports. John posted already that Cargo vans and Sprinters are not part of those number. I would have to say that the total Load1 fleet is over 350 units all together which would make Load1 the third biggest Expedite Carrier as far as fleet size. As far as gross income Load1 would be number five as John posted. As John Elliott has always said " it's not what you make, it's what you keep"

Ive ran several S/T loads for Landstar Ranger as an outside carrier and have been happy with the rates, quick pay program.
Most REPUTABLE companies are the same if you work smart, hard, and are reliable, keep your truck and SMS score in decent shape, get the jobs done, dont jerk arround with clients, get your paper work in on time and in correct order, everything usually goes smooth and you dont have to play the suck up game to get decent runs or question where is the money..

Since there isn't really any way to decide [once & for all] which is 'the leader', you guys can put the rulers away now, lol.
The competition that counts is the one you hold with yourself.

It makes little difference who is "best". What is MORE important is where they are headed.

We started with Custom Critical and now are at Landstar. Both companies have good points and not so good points. It really doesn't make a difference to us who is number one or three. We like the way Landstar operates. I like working with the different agents. Sure not everyone is great, but everyone we have worked with has been professional. The money with Landstar is better for us cuz it takes fewer miles to make a living. We recruited some friends in a D and they are making more now than they ever have. Every load pays closer to White Glove, without jumping through all of the hoops you run into in White Glove. For the larger C's & D's, I think Landstar is the only way to go. For the B's and Super B's, it is more of a wash. So if you are in a straight truck Landstar is number 1 with out a doubt. If you throw vans into the mix, I have no idea where is the best. Maybe Bolt. "if you just want miles and already have enough money" the rate is lower but they run a lot.

I have ran for several of the companies but not Fed-Ex, however I do recognize them as the leader based on the question ask by the OP. Others are right that the only important answer is which is the right company for you. My advice concerning Landstar has alway been, if you are new to the business and/or don't have a healthy financial base don't go there. Simply put you have to work your way up the pecking order and if freight slows down it can sink you quickly.

Some people are natural born smozzers(sp) brown nosers, car salesmen, etc... Others couldn't sell themselves to save their life. I'm somewhere in between, it's not that I can't it that I hate doing it.

First in first out suits my personality so that is what I look for. To each his on.
