Why do people perpetrate the BIG lie that NLM is cheap?

I've NOT run a cheap NLM yet....for Load 1...but E-1 and other carriers keeps hounding it into your brain that NLM is cheap and there is no money in the load.....you are being brainwashed by rip off carriers whose profit margins are taking too much of YOUR money......

It is your money...you want it now.....

Put the new van in service yeaterday around 1700. Picked up a load out of Toledo Ohio ( i went home, there were 3 sprinters in Taylor ahead of me) at 5 am delivered to Chicago Ford Assembly at 10 am ...got a call to DH 123 miles to Danville Ill and pu at 2000...on my way to Brock Park Ohio, Cleveland Ford engine plant...all miles pd ...both loads NLM...paid rigth at $1.14 a mile...Yeap more of that cheap NLM freight....

Oh, both loads were / are Sprinter loads...I wouldn't have gotten either one in the old van.....:)

Kinda goes along with my rant on the thread about short miles. I've also noticed that when we do NLM, I have never been asked to take a discount and I can promise you our rates are a LOT better than I was getting when I ran for another carrier who relied on NLM. Their miles were short too! It's pretty simple actually. An honest carrier will work WITH you whlle the others will cut you for every dime they can get at every spot they can get it.

I took the last two days off.... still cleared just under 1600 for the week. Been hanging out with my mom who is visiting from California... went to the Georgia aquarium and had dinner at my customer's restaurant yesterday. Finally got to taste the fresh fish I've been delivering. The rainbow trout was excellent.

Been doing alot of local runs this week, that paid very well...something is better than nothing.Heard a driver rip into dispatch over local runs and thought, what a nice attitude! It's the name of the game, take this time to get things done otherwise.I put a new front suspension on the van, new shocks, alignment, got the oil changed, bought an extra vacuum pump.Use the time wisely to be prepared for the busy time.I know it is frustrating to be sitting, and I do get that way also, but dispatch is doing all they can, and calling them every 2 hours is not going to help them find the loads, when they are always on the phone with the drivers.Try and be patient.do something constructive to pass the time.Pray.It will all come around.

I also been running local stuff mainly in Michigan. I been taking the scraps and it turned out to be a good week. Gotta take what you are offered when freight a little slack. 2 loads were a dollar a mile including fsc. All but one was automotive if I remember right

Above average week for me. All auto parts and at decent or above rates. Turned down a load also, because I wanted to be home this weekend. No complaints here.

After weeks of reading advice on when to move when u sat for 3 days up to 10 days, it appears there are no real answers, but the best advice i got for cvers is to stay on the eastern side of the Mississippi River, no Laredo, no florida. If u must break that rule, leave asap as soon as u r rested. well there it is.:D

There are no hard and fast rules. It has more to do with your vehicle and who you run for than anything else. Laredo is one of my favorite places to go. I might set a few days but always end up with a great week. The last couple times in Florida I got loads out within 24 hours, one of those times it was a 1/2 mile deadhead. When you go to places that your miles getting out loaded will be greater than average there is no reason in my book to hurry out. Sure you might run every day in the midwest but you might also have less total miles than one trip in and one trip out of either place and also have a few days rest and enjoy the weather.

We need to hear from at least 1000 drivers that Laredo is great, but I believe a lot of drivers dont have laptops in their because they cant afford it and many drivers dont even know that eol exist, so 1000s of drivers are in the dark and 1000s of drivers leave and we dont get any feedback but from the same folks in here over and over. I will still go to Laredo, but in 24 hrs, I will be moving if I dont get a load
