Is 65/35 good pay for expediting

Hi,
My question is this,If i'm going to drive for someone in their truck
and they want to pay me 65% off the load and 80% fuel surcharge. Is this a good price,and what expenses should i be paying out of my 65% or what should i expect him to be paying.
Please respond asap with a list of expenses and estimated pricing.

Is that 65% with you paying for fuel? If you are paying for the fuel then you should get all of the fuel surcharge. Different owners have different terms, make sure you have all the information in writing, broken down as to who pays for what. It's usually a higher % pay if the driver is paying for the fuel.

65% to the driver is a little better than average. 60/40 is more common, so I'd say you are getting a good deal on percentage. 80% fuel surcharge is 20% too little. The purpose of the FSC is to bring the effective cost of diesel fuel to $1.25+/-. A carrier should be givving 100% of the FSC to the owners and the owners should distribute all of the FSC to the person buying the fuel; that's what it's for. Note that not all carriers charge all customers a FSC. Some customers' contracts do not provide for the payment of FSC; some volunteer, some don't.

You might consider doing the math and compare 60% revenue and 100% FSC with 65% revenue and 80% FSC. It just might be a wash

65%/35% is a good split when you are paying for fuel but you should also get 100% of fuel surcharge not 80%. You are paying for all the fuel so you should get 100% of fuel surcharge. If O/O doesn't agree I would look else where.

Fuel surcharge is a fee charged by carriers to compensate for the rising cost of fuel. The higher the cost of fuel the higher fuel surcharge.

You just waved a very large red flag. If you don't know what the fsc (fuel surcharge) is you are not ready to start trucking. You should read every word in the newbie faq section and read any/all threads that catch your eye in the general, newbies and recruiter forums from the last year minimum. You will learn a tremendous amount and have a good knowledge base to build on. I don't mean this to be picking on you, I mean it to be a friendly warning that your knowledge ammo needs to be built up before getting into the fight. Based on your comment it sounds like someone being put into a phone company switching office to run the show with their only training/experience base being use of a phone in their home. Good luck.

I run 65/35 across the board. Nothing wrong with it. No need to run for cover. It's just a different way of getting paid. 65% is better than 60%.
I make a couple of pennies less a mile than I would with 60+100. It evens out as I don't pay for tolls. Not to mention the guy I'm running for is one of the best owners I've ever known.

Terry's right. 65+80 is probably a wash. In my case, I would be making a penny more with 65+80 than 60+100. I wouldn't sweat it. Just check your pay carefully.

what was stated as fuel surcharge is pretty accurate,its to help bring the price of fuel down to some kind of normality
John O,as you know the going rate for drivers,and this is by most,is 60 40,if he does a 65 35,and 80% of fsc,this is a few pennies more than 60 40 and 100%.In any event,whether the fsc is 100% or 80%,just make sure if your buying fuel your getting the charge,and remember,the better your fuel mileage the more money you will have.
Over speed is the biggest waist of fuel,next idleing you fuel away.

Depends. 65% of what?? 65% of nuthin is nuthin. We have had folks stand fast at demanding 60% of gross. We pay 50% of gross. My teachers musta been math challenged, because the way i've been learned is, 50% of two bucks, is, some better than 60% of a buck and a half. Could'a used some of these folks, but, their "inside the box" tinking cost them a good ride. Point i'm trying to make here is, put the pencil to the numbers, percentages don't mean much, unless there is a good number to multiply by.
