- That would be the correct answer Turtle. They were all looking at the same information from the intelligence community. The "Bush was lying" is not accurate but is handy for political purposes. Same thing with the whole weapons mess. My brother was over there guarding one of their old mustard gas stock piles. Quite a bit of distortion verses what really was going on over there.
Either Bush [and especially Cheney] knew they weren't being truthful, or they and their sources were incompetent. Pick one. Whichever, the mistakes cost a lot of lives, and trillions of dollars that could and should have gone to benefit the citizens here. We paid to rebuild Iraq [though much of it ended up in some well connected American pockets instead] while our own infrastructure is crumbling. And now, the Republican wannabees are explaining why we need to cut funds for food stamps & education, and raise the retirement age - all of which would be
yet again, BTW. And lower tax rates on business - excuse me, "job creators" [snort] so they'll create more jobs. This time, they will, really! Honest!!
And several of them are talking about 'military intervention' - again. Because: testosterone? Machismo? Existing in a bubble of their own unreality? Damifino, but the idea that the US can make everyone in the world conform to our wishes is just delusional. Worst of all is what it costs, especially in terms of our young men & women - we need them here, using their brains and creativity to help solve our problems, not dying in "the sandbox" or coming home with half as many limbs and nightmares that never stop.
Or worse: able and willing to get on with their lives, get married, have families - and finding a job at WalMart is as good as it gets these days.
