I read in paper today the iPhone 5 will take att or verizon sim card, so you change carriers now and keep your phone.

If you have an iPhone, and even if you don't, you should watch this. Familiar tech reviewers from C-Net, Wired and Gizmodo getting snapped back hard by Foxconn workers. The iPhone 5 and it's plethora of glitches and design flaws.

That is true, but it wont work for LTE, Verizon and ATT use different bands in the 700MHZ range for LTE, each carrier will get phones that only work on their licensed spectrum.

Now if you were to get an unlocked iphone5, and swap the sim, both models support all the current CDMA, GSM and UMTS bands.
