Well .... appears to me ... with USX being Choo-Choo based and with this statement.... "Dedicated Lanes-Predictable utilization."
One day to Detroit, with auto parts, one day back to Choo-Choo with auto parts.
But as mentioned, it is just conjecture until it happens.
As for a QC ... depends on what they use it for ... since Landstar has no central dispatch, the only people needing to find me is the agent with the freight. So it is a good deal for me.
Goes like this ..
Agent: "I need a van in xxxx, I'll look at the truck update to see who is there. Oh, there's Monty"
Me: ring, ring, ring, ring (I was taking a nap, almost missed the call!) "This is Monty"
Agent: Hey Monty, I have a load picking up in, it's going to, and it pays $$$'s. You interested."
Me: "You bet."
Agent: "I'll send the info over"
QC: BEEP! Load confrim, with all the pickup and delivery info on it.
Me: Send in pickup info when I get loaded, send in delivery info when I get empty. .. Wait for phone to ring again.
They dont track us, except when FECC calls if we have one their loads on ....
ring, ring, ring ... "Monty, where are you FECC thinks we are not capable of delivering their freight without a babysitter."
As for Landstar requiring a cdl ..... yes, a Class B, at a minimum, with Hazmat endorsement. Their reasoning? Better to have it if needed, than to not have it and miss a great load.
