Indiana at it again

cops are human, they are going to make mistakes, that is a reality, the system isn't perfect. Should we outlaw all cops because 2 mistakes were made. You need to look at the big picture and take economies of scale into consideration.

Thousands of innocent people are wrongly charged every year, does that mean we should stop prosecuting criminals so we don't step on the toes of the wrongly accused?

No, you keep at it and let the system work it out.

Bashing for the sake of bashing does nothing but prevent quality candidates from coming forward. One of the favored Republican candidates chose not to run because his family didn't want the public eyewatching them and he cared enough about his family not to run.

He just happens to be from that horrible state of Indiana.

It's fun to sit here and bash the government all day and search out their mistakes but why not be proactive and search out some of the good things that are being done and promote them?

I know that cops are human and that there are MANY good cops out there. I know many of them on a personal basis.

I also know that my police departments are corrupt and have been for a very long time.

IF cops were to break into my home, guns drawn, knocking down the door, unanounced, there would be bloodshed. People would die. WHY? How in the world would I know who there were?

There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. If I am home and my home is invaded by ANYONE, if my family is in danger, if my hard earned property is in danger, I can and will defend it all with any means I have available. That is my RIGHT to do so.

That's fine, when you show me a real current example of that happening, I might pretend to feel bad. But until your hypothetical scenarios become more than super rare freak occurences, I'll continue to let the system do it's job, which for the most part, on the subject at hand, it is from what I can tell.

Otherwise you would have had a bunch or real life examples, as it stands now, the only examples are of shady people and I say the earth is already overcrowded and a bad police officer taking out a bad citizen isn't hurting me or society.

I agree that there are bad cops out there but there's a heck of a lot more bad criminals out there but it's more cool to bash government.

I can bury you in examples, and I've already posted several to the board over the last several months. It wasn't long ago that cops in California busted into a house to arrest a decorated veteran on suspicion of drug charges. Since they didn't announce themselves, he naturally thought they were thugs (the unofficial type) and stumbled out of bed with a weapon to defend his family. He was riddled with bullets, and instead of bringing in the medic, who was already present outside, they kept the medic outside while (so) he bled to death in his living room.

These are your heroes.

Oh, btw, there were no drugs. And even if there were, it's not a capital offense.

And you put restrictions in place so their "mistakes" don't become street executions. That's what our founding fathers did, by writing the Bill of Rights. Now you want to throw it out.

When did I say it wasn't your right? If you want to sitaround armed in your house waiting for someone to intrude,by all means go ahead.

When I am at home, I prefer to relax and enjoy myself. If cops busted down my door, I wouldn't have a chance to get armed because I'm too busy enjoying my life.

But I'm a law abiding citizen who chooses to live in a safe neighborhood so I chose not to worry about these things.

The way you & AMonger talk, you sound like fanatics. Life is too short to focus my attention on such negativity.

I never said that you said that it was not my right. I apologize if things came across that way. It was not my intent.

I don't "sit around armed" waiting to be invaded. I DO have arms within reach. WHY? My home has been broken into, twice. Once where I live now, once when I lived in England.

There was also a time when some "DUDE" tried to steal my motorcycle from behind the place that I lived at. Stupid thief, NOISY. I live in the country so it was quiet. All I did was draw back the hammer on my Ruger .357 revolver. It had 4 VERY distinct, VERY audible "clicks" when it ****ed. I had to laugh, I have ONLY heard feet move like that on cartoons!!

There is a saying in the insurance business: There are only two types of homes, those that have been broken into and those that will be.

Will it happen again? Maybe. Will it happen when I am home? The thief had better hope not. Are the police in my area likely to just bust down my door? Nope. Can that ever change? Yep.

I am NOT paranoid, nor am I foolish. I know that it is unlikely to happen often. I do believe in being prepared for what ever comes my way.

I sometimes carry, so does my wife.
