I am not signed on with any large carrier I haul with a cargo van for 2 air freight carriers. My normal rate is 1.25 per mile and I usually do not get a back haul. I had an offer today for a 750 mile run at 1.00 per mile. I said no. What would you guys have done?

At $1.00 per mile, I think that is more than what is being offered from carriers to leased drivers. I would of done it, while trying to secure a return load of some kind.Keep in touch, let me know how you do with this, if you don't mind. And the best of luck to you.

I can usually get loads out of CLT at 1.25 per mile but it has deffinitlly slowed down. As an indepandent driver I dont get many back hauls. I am always willing to go anywhere dont need to go stright back home, I have pars numbers and have done many Canada runs. This is a secondary business for me which I enjoy doing. However I am interested in making it more profitible and getting more runs. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Yep make sure you become a IAC if you are already not one. You will have to do some paperwork and you will have to have a few other things in place. Moose PM me with what you know about the reform I know a little about what needs to be done, but I could be missing something:D

If it was going to a decent area, I'd have taken it. But if you're talking about doing a return deadhead of 750 miles - no way.

Business class 1on1 :

* the run pay 750$ , with a chance of a back haul
= this is your revenue .

* it will take 1,500 mil to complete
the owner is driving a CargoVan ,
lets say it costs 30C/M to move the Van (fuel ,maintenance ,tolls,...) = 450$

it will take 2 days to complete the trip.

*dose 300$ in 2 days enough to cover up for the
FIXED Costs ???
(insurance ,food ,payments, phone, internet ,tags ,health care ,(QC) ,occ ,pre-pass ,...)
*only the owner can answer that ,it will depend of where he is standing in his quarterly business plan.

IAC stands for Indirect Air Carrier. An example would be a freight forwarder, that didn't get in on the whole "known shipper" thing, back in the day. He would not need to be an IAC. The TSA would recognize him as an agent of an IAC. Talk to your IAC customers. They will sponsor you, and make the process painless.

If he is hauling now, he most likely already has done a STA and has been assigned a TSA number. He can pickup from the airline, but cannot drop there without it.

Why keep this info secret? You should share it with everyone. You never know who it could help.
