Reasons, I considered using;
1. Officer, have you heard of the "no child left behind" law. Well my family left me behind!
2. My siberian husky has to go potty real bad!
3. I have to go potty real bad!
4. Officer, my mother -in-law would like some rocks pieces for her rock garden back home, may I take a few?
5. Yes, I retired from law enforcement in Georgia and now work as a United States Federal Process Server, out of Chicago.....

*Number 5 worked and I got a verbal warning. I hope the Bolt C/V driver who got stopped in Ohio was just as clever!

Drive Safe and God Bless!

Both of mine were in illegal traps!

Never had a ticket in my life and have been driving for over 42 years.

Retired LEO from Pa has worked for me recently. Twice in Nebraska last month.

How unethical is that? Anybody still wonder why I don't like cops? Above The Law is the name of a Steven Seagal movie, not a legal principle.

Please fellow expediters, excuse #5 does not always work. Two years ago traveling from Indiana (where speed limit is 70) into Ohio on turnpike, around Wauseon area the speed limit is 55mph. Now That is a speed trap and I and the car behind me were stopped for speeding. I told the female trooper the same story I did the PA trooper, and she handed me a nice ticket for $181.00 *So you see NOBODY is above the law. And I can't begin to count the number of times while I was a police officer, I helped out truckers, whether it was giving a break on speed, escorting them through town (when they should have been ticketed for violating the truck route, etc). Giving them a ride someplace when their truck broke down on the highway, buying them a meal.
And I also stopped my fair share of fellow cops, and their family members, lawyers, nurses, judges, and firefighters and extended courtesies to them as well. Its all about politeness!

If the LEO has been on ticket detail more than a month, it's probably hard to come up with one he hasn't heard - but my favorite was the cop in the south who stopped a young man for driving over 90mph in a 55 zone. Cop approaches driver & says "Boy, I been waiting all day for you to come by" and the kid says "Sorry, Officer - got here as fast as I could" The cop was laughing too hard to write a ticket. :D

I think most professions give each other courtesies in one way or another and police are no different on any given situation....the officers, most will put their life on the line for you, a stranger... these little things some of you complain about are IMO...idealistic, that cops should be perfect...

When we in society set rules, with penalties for noncompliance, legislators, judges, and cops must not be above the law. Absolutely unacceptable.
