I'm headed over to take my CDL written test tomorrow. I'm going for all endorsements except passenger. I start school May 3rd and I must confess, I'm excited, but TERRIFIED!

I had a lot of fun with the CDL training school I went to, and met a lot of good fellows there, a couple of which I have ran into out on the road.
I did the class A training for tractor/trailer, and the nervousness really went away after the first time out in the truck learning to shift. After that I couldn't wait to get back out on the road, as most of the day was spent in the field learning to back up, which got boring after three weeks of it.
We had five different road instructors, and getting to go out with each of them was great, as they all had their own little bits of advice to share. That I have remained accident and violation free for over 6 years and over 700k logged miles is a testament to the worthiness of the schooling. It's something that I feel should be a requiement for any class of CDL, as I think it would greatly reduce new driver accidents and help to lower insurance rates.
Have Fun Pelicn,

I said I'd tell the good the bad and ugly so here goes.....

I have to go back and take 1 of the tests again. :'( Of all things, it was Combination Vehicles! Good grief I thought I KNEW that one!
They say go with your first choice, but of course I didn't listen to that little voice in my head and changed 2 of my answers. Should have left those 2 alone. :-( Oh well...I'll get it tomorrow (I hope)

Here's my scores:
General Knowledge: 86
Air Brakes: 84
Doubles: 90
Tanker: 90
Hazmat: 86
Combination Vehicles: 75 <~~~missed 1 more than allowed :(

I also got up this morning and took my planned route to school to see what traffic would be like. It's not too bad, but it took a full hour to get there. UGH...leaving at 5:45am Class is 7:00am-6:00pm Monday - Friday for 8 weeks. Hmmmmm...I'll be bumping that 14 hour clock. LOL

Thanks for the support everyone!!! :7

Very good, at least you did well on the hazmat, the hardest one, I'm sure you'll pass combo vehicles on the next try. Remember you have to renew the hazmat endorcement every two years- it is the only CDL test that has to be taken over. The reason is that the hazmat laws change often and they want drivers to know all the new rules. Every other test is passed for your lifetime.
I had about an hour ride to and from my CDL schooling, and it didn't bother me a bit as the classes give you a lot of things to think about on the ride, and our instructors actually required us to keep a "logbook" for the driving in our cars to get the hang of it.
Best Wishes,

Lawrence said "steel haulers"?? Hey, I resemble that remark..:7 just on a little truck :D Us flat-bedders get no respect :0

' Course, I bet he meant STEER Haulers...now, showers don't do that bunch much good (yeah, I tried that, too. Grew up on a ranch) :)

Seriously, congrats on passing the test. I flunked HM first time, & now, many yrs later, I don't even carry it.
