Ok, I am sure this question has been asked to death but I can't seemed to find the right answer. I need to know what all is involved in recording my trips for IFTA and is it worth me getting? The reason I ask is I drive a straight truck and generally make 5-10 stops a day to deliver. All in Ohio at the moment. I'd like to go out state and I am aware I need to get IRP plats and the IFTA sticker. Sooo... my question is, if I make 9 stops in ohio and one stop in PA. Do I have to record every route taken in Ohio between locations including the route to PA? Sorry for the long winded questions any replies are appreciated. thanks.

Only if your GWVR is 26,000 pounds or over. I used to take a day cab all oer he northeast with regular commercial plates. I was 18,000 GWVR, never had a prolbem if I was pulled into a weigh station.

As far as recording, you only record traveled miles in each state. In your example, you would record your total miles for the day in Ohio and total for for the day in Pa. Number of stops would have no bearing on recorded miles. There are log sheets for this. Not as complicated as it seems. Filing the taxes quarterly yourself may be a challenge. I myself, pay to have them filed.
