Let me re-phrase

"At E-1's customers that I also service."

On that note...I treat E-1's customers as they were MY customers. For without them either way you cut the pie without them thier is no business.

The freight exists. It must be moved. If the freight didn't exist we as expediters would be unnecessary.I understand that there are some loads that take us to places where it costs more to get out of than others. This doesn't change the fact that the freight must be hauled. Solutions such as satellite tracking and subsequent partnering with other carriers that use the tracking system certainly help. In the end the cold hard fact is that the freight must be moved. I fully understand the concept of profitabilty and we are all in the same boat as far as trying to maximize it. Still, the freight exists before we do and as such our first responsibilty should be to said freight. Perhaps this paradox will go down in history as just one more of the struggles of our time...

I don't see the problem here, OVM. Kell asked a simple question that he was concerned about... namely, the fact that E-1 claims to have a no-forced dispatch, then being told by management not to turn down loads. Which is it? If I were with E-1, I'd be asking the same question. Granted... it is thought provoking. Cut the guy some slack. He wasn't asking if he should leave E-1. ;)

Ok Hawk...point taken

Now...they say No Forced dispatch BUT come back with as stated above that too many refusals COULD be detrimental to your contract.
No one has been told that I've talked at E-1 has been told directly NOT to refuse or be terminated.

I suppose they should define just what constitutes "too many turndowns"

I know an individual or 2 that used to be with E-1 and turned down what I thought were an excessive number of loads. These people didn't have their contracts terminated, eventually dispatch just quit calling them...

My experience with Express-1 was that they were fair. They asked new drivers to accept all loads for the first few months to get a feel for their traffic lanes and customer base. Even this was a suggested policy. At no time did they ever insist that I take a load. If you're turning down a lot of loads with them ... then you probably will at any other carrier you may sign on to. In this business you have to take a few crap loads. You should'nt need to take more than your share. It would take a lot of refusals before they would stop calling you and that's what they would probably do.
