I see load of Used trucks, with the Venerable Cat C-7, and a few with the Paccar PX8, and some with Cummins ISC/B.....What engine do you prefer, Why, what Issues have you had and costs to repair, wait times, Service on the road, etc....Im looking to buy and Ill probably choose the Cummins engine brand....feedback please...

ISC is the way to go for that class of engine. Parts are cheaper than cat, have a clear support for the engine by different sources and it is a neat red engine.

Do not ever buy a Cat engine. The company will not support it. They will deny legitimate warranty claims. Cummins is a better engine and ANY company is a better company.

Cummins would get the nod if it is 07 or before. Anything after that because of the regen would be a huge question mark.

The Detroit 50's were a killer engine in the straights. Virtually indestructible if you kept the oil in them.
