I was shocked ....

On my way home last week, before going rv'ing, I was woke up as I slept in Pendelton, ky by the South bend agent at 3:30am.

I had thought I was out of service, but central had not completed my request.

There was a van broken down in Indy, with a load going to Batesville.

I told the night girl I would go get it. She was wondering what I needed for revenue. I told her not to worry about it in the middle of the night, I would work it out with the day folks.

Deadheaded 140 miles to get it, delivered to Batesville, 55 mile away, on time.

Got a GREAT atta boy from the agent and Landstar, seems I am now have a "Star of Quality" award.

The shocking thing, to me, was the glowing words I heard from doing, (what I), thought was simply a part of the job.

Seems many would have have hasseled her and demanded big bucks, etc. To me, it is just a part of my business, to make customers happy.

(oh, yes the South Bend agent made it well worth my time and effort ..... Mark and Connie are good people to wortk with!)

I thought this was going to be a disgusting post about food poisoning and it's aftermath. Thank you for not continuing in that vein and kudos for a job well done!

We delivered in NYC recently. for a fantastic rate, and the customer called our carrier, very pleased with our service. Pretty routine service, and we have done a lot more for others with no word of thanks. It all comes around. Good Job !

You did yourself, your carrier, your agent, your customer and all expediters proud with your actions.

Diane and I have done rescue loads before and have never hesitated to do so, regardless of pay, but for different reasons.

We have been rescued twice; once when I had to go the the ER for something that turned out later to be nothing, and once when we were unable to complete a run because the truck engine started making a noise that made it best to get to a shop instead of completing the cross-country run.

We learned from those experiences that when a freight rescue is needed, there is an expediter or team out there whose priorities have changed such that he, she or they want nothing more than to get the freight off the truck so the matters at hand can be addressed.

We remember with perpetual gratitude the expediters who rescued our freight in our time of need. Knowing first-hand how good it is to get freed from the freight you have on board when your circumstances and priorities change, we are always ready to roll on a rescue request.

Notanewbie, you talked about completing the run for the customer and others, but there is an expediter out there too who is probably pleased that you did what you did.

She and I have chatted before, but I had no clue it was her until after I had agreed to do the deed.

Wow I didn't know rescuing freight paid like that, now I'm going to feel awkward if I breakdown again. I thought that guy hung around a little to long that rescued the load from me in MI.
