looks like and seems like load 1,is sitting new standards in expedite.or should i say bringing back the good days where you can make a good living.dont get me wrong my company gives me plenty miles, but it would be better if they would up there pay a little.everyone should see this as a sign to always throw this at there carrier when ever given the chance .like when they ask you if they could be doing something better?and my reply would be to that get onboard with load 1!! i hope they keep up there rate of pay and make these other carriers have to step up to the plate.if i left my carrier today i would be there.but they are not putting on vans right now.:)

Why do you suppose that is?

simply..the old "supply and demand"....we don't want a van on every corner...we don't subscribe to "volume pricing"...only a carrier makes money with this business plan...

Each company has their own way of doing things. Each company fits the requirements of the contractors they lease.

Load-1 as good as they sound is not for everyone, they are not the best for everyone and they are not the standard of what a company is or shoud be because no one can define what we really do with all the sources of work we get and all the different customers we service - no offense John.

I think that if every one examines this as a business and leaves the follow the leader mentality out of the picture, they can see that companies that have 'better benefits' don't always mean they are better. Load-1 is one of the exceptions in this industry, but not the exception nor the only one.

Exactly Greg..we've had a few come and go...it just did not click for them and for whatever reasons they had...

There are companies that do want a van on every corner and do subscribe to volume pricing which seems to attract shippers. It's the WalMart Syndrome.

I hope Load 1 has a plan for slow steady growth and sticks to it. I have been with two start up companies from infancy; one a LTL carrier, the other expedite. The LTL carrier became so large I couldn't stand to work for them any more. The expedite carrier grew and sold me to WalMart. (insert smiley face here) I seem to remember another "one" that grew and went public. Most on board were ecstatic, at least for awhile.

Load 1 appears to be a great company for O/O's and shippers. I wish you guys the best of luck and put in a good word for me!

Admittedly...I was one of them...and for what they represent are still a good company if they fit ones criteria for operating....They fit mine for the time period....and the fact I was a newbie to the U.S way of doing things...You could say...I watched, learned and listened...

Look at you and Turtle...P2 for so long...and you make it work....you both know thier system so well and work within that system to make it work for you...some people can't or won't do that and are unhappy....

I thought that also, until yesterday. I was working the system and worked a load that would have put me 8 miles from my front door right into Turtle's lap! Not only that, but he got a bonus on top of it.

I don't know how you guys driving vans even make a living.Sure the expenses are less, but so is the gross income.Between all the companies, doing van work is more than I could even start to think about, guess thats why I stick with a TT.Years ago I could have switched to a straight truck,to many of them too.As long as there is expedite work for a tractor, thats for me.Yes I haul straight truck loads now and then, but you guys in the smaller trucks can't haul my tractor loads.

That is what you are comfortable with...your comfort zone....and it works for you.....Me I am happy with my income and expenses...it is all proportional in many ways...

example..my fuel mileage is 3x's yours...so your rate should be 3x's mine to be equal..right? So I am averaging $1.20 a loaded mile....you are getting $3.60 a loaded mile....

After almost 15 years in a tractor doing heavy and wide hauling for the aerospace industry, I got out of the big truck in 2006. I'm now making a higher margin of profit in the E350 than I ever did in the 378 with a 45 foot 3-axle gooseneck.

Oh and I am home a lot more now because when I deadhead home I get almost 20 MPG.... so it's a lot more painless when I need to get home in time for a dance recital or what have you.

To each his own. I definitely don't miss the bill for parking the truck at a facility with a 24 hour gate, or the 45 minute drive to get there.

fired at you from my Droideka

Knowing John, he like to take baby steps. Meaning he don't want to sign on more trucks than Load1 has the need for. John likes to sign on a truck and keep them happy and not sitting.

Well I guess thank you's are in order again. I took a long weekend for some rest and relaxation so I haven't been online much. We are far from the perfect company. We continue to work to improve ourselves and build and strengthen the fleet. As long as you do not lose sight of the owner operator's and driver's needs, you can succeed. While I am very proud of my company, we are not the best fit for everyone. I can say that some of the other carriers on this site run very good successful companies. It is really all about finding the company that fits you best.

It doesn't matter where you are leased, you are either happy or unhappy, but changing from 1 company to another, you will not find the grass being greener at any other company you haven't been with yet.I was happy for years with FDCC,switched companies 10 months ago,and find where I'm at now is a better fix for me.It's not that I make more now,but I don't sit around near as much as I did before. My over all pay is pretty near the same, but my expenses are alittle less.I'm very happy with the move. The people I see here on EO that do all the complaining, need to either find somewhere else to work,of find another vocation.Lifes to short to complain about your job every day
