I need a new insurance company...

When i bought my policy i was offered rental coverage and that was all. Looking back i should have got it, but didn't. I asked about loss of wages and she said that if the other person was found at fault, his insurance company would be liable. I'm just not sure how fault is going to be determined after the fact now since there were no tickets issued. She told me basically when this happens each company sides with it's client. I did check renting a sprinter through Ryder but the rental and charge per mile, is too much there to make sense for me. I am still checking other places though.

Pizzagod,_one thing you seem to not understand is that CIS is just your agent. Progressive is your insurance company who writes the check for the repairs. They have nothing to do with the time needed to fix your Sprinter. The body shop that did the estimate is the one who told you the time frame.

Even if your van would be the only one there it would still take quite a while to fix all the damage. From my understanding you were hit in the rear pass quarter which spun you 180 degrees, and flipped you onto your drivers side. That's a substantial ammount of damage. At the very least all of the drivers side sheet metal and support structure would have to be cut out, new supports welded in and then new sheet metal installed. The damage to the passenger side where the hard hit took place could go as far as damage to the roof, floor, and frame/unibody, and rear doors. That's not to mention any damage to the suspension, rear end, drivetrain, air bag system, glass or light housings.

The shop has to basicly take apart and rebuild your whole van. That is a lot of parts to order and wait on to come in.

If you should be mad at anyone, it should be the person that hit you, also for the LEO not issuing a ticket to the person that hit you, which would put them at fault. I would try to go after their insurance company for down time to a work vehicle and loss wages while the vehicle is down. You never know, they night cover the cost of rental for a similar vehicle. As far as shopping around for insurance, go ahead, but you wount find a better policy for the price than thru CIS.

Enemy..I do understand that CIS is just the agent and prices are great, as prior to CIS policy, i had a progressive policy through Progressive directly and the same policy i have now was almost $800 more than through CIS and i do have to agree of the several places i called they had the best for me. I just wasn't thinking about the things you and others pointed out about parts delays etc.

The Ohio Police Dept. actually called me on 9-13 to ask my first name and driver's license # so she could finish the police report. So shortly the agent should have access to that report and i will be asking about down time and loss of wages at that time.

Thank you all for the comments and ideas, i understand more now why it may take that long.

I could not go through CIS because they are not lic to do insurance policies on vehicles registured in VA. But ive had the same underwriter for 6yrs and for that time I have always been with progressive for all my business needs. my underwriter has always gotten me the best rate possible and going over every detail of the policy to make sure i'm not over or under insured. I have never made A claim. If I would ever need to I would pay it out of my own pocket if I could afford to to keep my ins record clean clean I would only use it if I couldn't afford it myself I keep A high deductable (that I can afford) to help keep the rate down I do the same for auto, motorcycle and homeowners

We went through CIS to get our Occupational Accident insurance and the rates were not significantly better then Protective but they were better. I have called into CIS to get a reply on the Hazmat question Zorri brought up.

We have not tried out the insurance and I hope we never have to so I cannot say how they pay. I will be totally surprised if they do not pay as well as the vehicle insurance. All I know is when we were down and out CIS was right there getting us to the right people and making sure we were taken care of. There is not one area I could fault them in. They did what they said they would do.

Jim if I was you I would call CIS and get a quote. I had to look back for several years to see what we had been paying as we paid on how many miles driven and compare to the new policy which is monthly and the premium has nothing to do with miles.
