If you know me...then you know Miss Buscuit...

She is a pekanese dog that has been with me since long before I hit the road and has been my constant companion since I promised my Mom I would take care of her after she died. She became much more to me than a promise over the years and I will miss her terribly.

The lonely road seems much longer than usual at present......

So sorry to hear that buddy, I guess she finally went through her 9 lives cuz it sure seemed like she dodged a lot of bullets the last couple of years.

I often wonder how I would react to loosing mine. I also wonder how someone can abuse a small defensless creature such as a dog. I rescued my Aussie 5 years ago. Having never owned this type of dog and never having one in the house I didn't know what to expect, but the lady at the Aussie Society said we were a perfect match. How would she know that? It didn't take long to realize they know just how to attach themselves to your heart. I'm no longer able to sit on my couch in the living room because it's now his. I can't open the door to my truck w/out getting run over trying to get in. I no longer can keep a drink in the drink holder because he drinks it all. Thank God he hasn't taken my bed but he sure does eye it often enough. I know he doesn't like sleeping on the floor next to it. Even having to buy the most expensive dog food because now I think he deserves it. I often said that if my wife looked at me with her brown eyes like Gator does we'd probably still be married. Wait that went over the top a bit. Anyway it's tough to loose a special friend and I'm sorry for your loss.

Yes, I do know how this goes, for German Shepard has come over 400,000 miles with me on the road. And last Oct I had to do the right thing and put him down.. as somebody said that's the hard part of being a pet Owner. I am so sorry for your loss

My cat is almost 17 and a half years old. The only problem she has is asthma right now. I am preparing for the day when she passes. It's the worst part about caring for an animal. But you have to look at it this way, you gave your pet a really good life filled with love and happiness. I am sorry for your loss.

Some Pets will do things with ya when others wont, and thats just 1 thing that makes it hard to lose em. Never thought I would cry over losing a dog but I did the day I had to put my Chessie down..Its hard.
Sorry to hear this.

thanks for all the kind words....Love the stories!!!

Yes, they can be a royal pain in the ***....but well worth dealing with it...

Buscuit stole the drivers seat every time I got out of the van....had to either wait or move her back to the table between the chairs everytime...frustrated me to no end...

Now I miss it......

Sorry to hear of you're loss as well. I know there will be a time when I will be going through the same thing with Rambo. He and I have been through so much together since 2001. As with any pet, he has become a permanent fixture in my family.Mom and Dad spoil him more than anything, and I see how he cheers them up instantly when I come home.Their whole mood changes, and they are so much more relaxed, more calm when he is near. It's going to be tough, real tough. It won't be easy, and I am sure this will be my last dog because of the end result.
