Cool! What state did it originate in and where did it deliver?

Although to some that seems a killer rate,it really wasn't. An intrastate movement of an OVERSIZE load. I'm confident that if the broker knows his business that his price was high enough to cover $1200 easily. He told the shipper it's hard to find an O/S hauler, you have to kill the day waiting for the permit, yada, yada, yada. Then he probably slips it on a guy as a backhaul towards home. You did well. I'd been happy doing it too. In reality all you did was get the broker to pay you your fair share. Then you cut your expenses if you "forgot" to get the permit.

since I have IL authority also I get IL runs while I recharge at house.

Obviously, this practice is illegal .
BTW, what is the going rate for an I.L base plate those days ?
AND Happy BD !
Good negotiations skills, how many BirthDay's you have in a year ? :D

first off it wasn't over sized load it was to wide for a dry van and needed side loaded wince it was a very long item. Shippers are not always the smartest as we all know. ok. Now IL base plates are like $3000 yes expensive and IL authority "WHICH YOU NEED BY LAW TO HAUL ANY SIZE LOAD THAT PICKS UP AND DELIVER IN ILLINOIS!" $50 a year for IL authority easy to get 2 pages and a visa # and bingo your ready to roll.

The fees for oversized loads are cheap and easy to get as long as you have your list of state #'s to call and also the routes you plan on taking and also NOT A FAR HANG OR HUGE WIDE And most of all not over weight. I had to get permitted other day for wy,mt,id,wa took me a whole 1 hour and $120 in permits for a 10' wide load x 13'Tx 49'L and only 58k LBS trailer / cargo . longest wait was waiting for wy port of entry to give me permission to leave the shipper to drive to the port to get the permits for wy, mt but didn't bother me it was friday and didn't have to deliver in port of Tacoma until monday am and at $5k for a short run I was happy.
