Back in the late 80s early 90s I worked in LA for an Entertainment lighting company called Obies, we dod World tours for Madonna, Genesis, George Straight, and entertainers of that Ilk. We used to ship stuff around the world out of LAX on a regular daily basis, I would package and crate, seal and bundle, and warp and case, Make out the CARET and Bills of Lading, detailed descriptions of cargo, Data sheets, Pictures and arrows and written descriptions of every nut bolt bulb and piece.....

Haul it over to Rocket cargo and ship it out, it never failed at midnite or 3 am I would get a call to go to Customs to show the Inspector or the Shipper what was inside these cases. The Case would say Ship to Royal Albert Hall, London England, Care of Production Management, Madonna or who ever the tour was, and these customs guys were Incompetent of following the rules. I knew more about air travel and shipping then the Govt Paid fella who I swear was usually looking for some kind of souvenier etc.

Ive sat in Customes for HOURS AND HOURS waiting for the cases to clear, only to have the Boob in charge want to open and inspect these, and many times we did and again wrap and seal and tape and detail, it was a lesson in frustration, expensive as can be, and always took longer then it should do to the Customs agents LACK OF KNOWLEDGE, Rocket Cargo was the Leader in tour transportation, these guys knew every airport, bus station and Venue and knew how to get things there FAST.

Sometimes the best laid plans fall prey to the "Office" person whose just started on the job and wants to follow the book never read the book and doesnt know the job.
