Ive run up and down this road numerous times and one of the things that gets me is WHY there is no Light Rail, People movers, Trams etc....last week I was coming down from New Hampshire, and got down to Virgina its about 1 am and there anre thousands of cars cruzing down the interstate.Im looking and its basically One person per car, soon were in a Huge 22 mile backup caused because people dont know how to read and merge.....2 and half hours later were moving again but the damage is done, hours used up, and parked...

Most of these big citys have some form of subway, etc, why hasnt the folks that get all the toll money built a Light rail system, because they darn sure dont spend it on road repairs, NYC sdhould be embarrassed to call there Interstate a road, its more like a cow path with potholes and no lines....

Ive been thru there plenty and its always the same yet you pay 28 bucks in toll here, and 30 bucks in toll there...and the bumps become small craters and soon Semis are dissapearing and etc...

The I 95 Corridor needs some serious Light rail better then Amtrak, somethings thats running 24-7 and can move some serious people, and of course theyll charge...I imagine some rich guys looking down on the highway laughing puffing those big Cubans.....

It will only get worse, not only on the east coast, but nationwide, as our dollars meant for road improvements are used elsewhere.

The roads are bad, in part, because of things like "light rail". Generally speaking those systems are money losers and are subsidized by taking money out of the transportation fund. The ONLY way public transit is going to work, and still have money to keep up the roads, is to insist that ALL subways, light rail, bus systems etc, become self supporting. Since the vast majority of these are government run, it ain't gonna happen.

In NYC they have been digging a tunnel for another light rail system that has already cost more then a billion dollars and it only goes a mile. It's 1/2 a mile down under. I took a ride on the light rail system there a few years ago just to see if it was anything like Chicago's CTA. It isn't. I think it would have been a nicer ride to ride in a cattle car with a load of Pigs.
But just like Layout say's it ain't gonna happen. Besides the money to build them people rather have the freedom of their own cars.

I-95 south of D.C. I would like to see more lanes.

Georia on I95 has done pretty well and Fla is working on it. SC's governor allocated a few billion to start getting our hwys up to snuff. Part of that is widening 95 from I26 south. I26 needs widening from 95 to 77 in Columbia. But I'll be dead before all that happens.
Only way to run anywhere anymore is after midnight.

I don't suppose there is any way to tell but I wonder how much congestion has grown because changes to the hours of service rules took away some of the scheduling flexibility truckers used to have.

Makes sense. Probably has a lot to do with why truckstops parking is gone after 5pm.

It was 1 am and I was driving towards Charlotte NC, The traffic was heavy, I mean LOTS of cars along with the trucks that typically move at night, then they closed all lanes but one sountbound,,,it was traffic artmaggedon...and the cars were being driven by mindless fools who drove down both medians, the shoulder, ignored the merge now signs and created this 22 mile logjam of immovable ****ed off drivers.....thats ridiculous, at least they should park cops at the Merge sign and enforce the darn law, these people didnt care they broke every law of polite or patience it was every moron for themselves...
