It's simple to me... dispatchers should be treated with respect, BUT they work for you. It only gets turned around if you let it.
Are12 said "As for favoritism, lets be honest, it goes on in all companies, even FedEx"
And by the talk here on the forum they cloak it better and do the CYA thingee better then most!!
One of the hidden reasons for getting passed over is that truck might be on that shippers "Do Not Send" list...BUT dispatch doesn't say anything to the driver. I have seen it happen. For some reason the shipper didn't like the driver/truck and made the request. If a driver knew he/she was on this list it may just make a difference to what location they go to wait for a load.
Maybe a smart thing for a newbee driver for an owner to do would be to ask if this truck number is on any Do Not Send lists???
Well heck, that exsplains why I get one load a week. I must be on quite a few "do not send list" lol
your not a miserable ole fart are ya???*L*
How do you figure this one. you can't fire a contracted person, you can easily terminate their contract. A dispatcher is an employee, you have to deal with unemployment and possible COBRA when you terminate their employment.
Trucking companies have a file on every dispatcher
Mistakes, errors, screw ups, disiplinmary issues, tardy for work etc.
Usually when it's time to fire a dispatcher they have a bunch of things to turn into unemplyment to get out of paying anything.
Vinnie, I would say most have files, but not all.
Beside, if the company is say here in Michigan, they don't have to have a reason to fire anyone, they can just do it - it is called at will employment.
In Michigan again, about unemployment, the only thing that really disqualifies someone is insubordination and then there is an appeal process that one can go through to get unemployment.
Speaking of your home state, Greg, I thought about you last night when I heard this on the news:
The Associated Press: Michigan governor released from hospital after surgery
I was kinda hoping, for your benefit, that the doctors might have also tried that new procedure on her while they had her under........the addabraintomy!
She had a bowl obstruction
I'm glad they removed her head successfully
