With a big truck what kind of money are you able to make? Like what would you average weekly in a good or bad year, after expences? I see the nicer big trucks are around 100K and I was just wondering if itd be worth it. Thanks for your help in advance, David Soest

A similar question was just asked in the general forum . The gross income doesn't tell you much . There are a lot of variables . Is it worth it ? Evidently it is for many but I'd say most are not in it for the money . There are also many that decide it isn't worth it . I've seen too many references to lots of repo trucks being available . Most members here agree it is not a good idea to invest in a truck to start out . Try driving for a fleet owner . If you just plan on running a van buying a good used van to start isn't too much of a risk because it wouldn't be too difficult to sell the van if things didn't work out . I'd say the average miles run is around 2,000 and teams can gross well over $100,000 a year . It's pretty good money for a husband and wife . Start figuring truck payments , taxes and registration , insurance , tolls , fuel , repairs , etc. and the net income isn't as attractive as the gross . Keep in mind though many expediters only run 3 weeks out of a month then take a week off . Personaly , I decided against a straight truck because they depreciate too fast . Most carriers want a truck less than 5 years old . When the trucks reach that age you can't get any kind of a price at all for them . You'd have to trade every 2 or 3 years . For a team it would be worth it but I run solo.
