How Many Of You Are Going To The Truck Protest In D.C.?

Well, the big truck protest is this weekend in Washington D.C. I have to assume the drivers who actually show up are the same ones who yammer on on the various trucking website forums ( including this one) across the internet. I am just curious as to how many of you will be attending?

Won't be attending but might toast a glass of Merlot with the wife in that we have a weekend that might be represented by a group of morons that think they represent the trucking industry.

I agree with Dave. They have an agenda that is all over the map and half of it has nothing to do with trucking. I am no fan of most in Washington, but after reading on this thing I fear we are going to let a tiny percentage of a fraction of our industry do nothing more than embarrass us. Again, just my opinion.

How so? In this case, I don't think they have a clear message that represents the trucking industry. Of course, that is just my opinion.

It is not a "trucking" protest". It is just a bunch of ticked off people, some of whom are truckers. It is not even a good idea. IF one is to "protest" it should make sense. This does not. I don't waste my time on useless effort, other than in here. :p

That's a little unfair, I think, since the demands and goals of the protest are more all over the place than that of the Occupy Wall Street extravaganza was. They're protesting high fuel prices, low freight rates, the NSA surveillance, federal regulations, the arming of the Syrian opposition, and the contents of chicken nuggets. And they want to arrest all members of Congress and the President for treason, despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of the Congress won't even be there this weekend. They also want to declare war on Wall Street while they're there.

The "leader" of this ridiculous mess now says he has other committments for this weekend and probably won't make it. He also says truckers won't intentionally shut down traffic this weekend, though some may travel along the inner loop of the Beltway and honk their horns. Conlon said it "wouldn't be fair" to the people of D.C. "to lock down the city by the Belt loop."

Clearly, somebody got to him. :D

The links and information people have been sending me don't mention trucking issues...arming Syria, government shutdown and other issues yes but not once have a seen that this protest is about real trucking concerns. I'm not saying I'm happy about these things but why is this protest designed to make me lose money? Someone else can shutdown their business and feel the pinch, between spongebox and I there's 4 kids (thankfully mine are officially adults), a cat with a temptation treat addiction and my redbull & Thor addiction...we need to be making money! :p

It's on the Facebook page, but here's an article about it:

Truckers to protest Obama on Beltway - The Hill's Transportation Report

And what does arming Syria have to do with truckers? You want to protest trucking issues stick to it, my point was every person sending me info on it has a different agenda. It's like someone said let's protest and everyone and their brother got to throw a reason in...it's called the truckers ride for the Constitution. So is it about the Constitution, trucking issues, arming Syria or whether or not Bigfoot exists?
