Maybe someone will answer your question about C&M because im not sure i did see something on C&M site that really discouraged me and that is they say no escrow but hold 3 weeks pay. That can really hurt you and in my eyes that is kinda like escrow they are holding my money transtewart doesnt do that. But like i said call and talk to jerry heck tell him you and i have been talking on here.He knows my username on hear.I will say that they do their very best to keep the wheels turning even if its at a reduced rate right now because of the newbee companies under cutting on bidding plus companies know they can penny pinch to get stuff hauled cheaper. But you do have the right to turn it down or you can tell them to bid higher and see what happens but then you may be sitting longer. The other thing to think about with transtewart there is no Qualcom so there is say $35 week you dont pay, they pay fuel tax and report it some companies charge it back,Fleet one card which is nice for fuel or maintance they then deduct from settlement.Like i said if you ask the questions with Jerry or Sarah they will do the best to HONESTLY answer them. They are straight forward no BS.PLus they dont hold it against you when and if you turn down a load for what ever reason.NO FORCE DISPATCH at all truely. Some companies will put you to the bottom of the list or take points off your score or give you a negative number which i think is wrong. They dont do any of that here. They know we all have lives outside of this.

Am I hauling at reduced rates? Compared to what?

Compared to 1998 when I was paid .97/mi. and more for loads less than 300 miles.
YES I AM!

Compared to 2002 when I was paid 1.02/mi. and more for loads less than 300 miles. YES I AM!

Compared to the past 4 years when I was paid .80/mi. for all loaded miles.
NO I AM NOT!

I guess it all comes down to what you compare it to. Now please excuse me while I stick a sharp pencil in my eye.

I run a solo D unit at TSES. Yes it is slow, and that is normal and also worse than before. I don't ever run at a reduced rate, but there are a number of customers that are discounted at household goods or a low FSC (as low as .10c). I don't like either, and they better be runs of about 300 miles, and taking me out of Detroit. That is a black hole anymore and the reason is obvious. There are too many expedites around, you are all discounting rates, and Detroit will have less auto freight if they can put it on big trucks in a paced manner. Look at the auto show, numbers attending fell off big time since last year.
I have said this before, and it merits repeating: those who rely on spot-bidding on NLM freight, under conditions where the US auto industry is in the deep freeze, will not survive in the long term. Expediting must branch into other areas that are still lucrative, or we die. Canada is now the leader in automotive freight, and runs into & out of same, is a good way to make the bread & butter money.

And to make sure I posted correctly, my $$woes came from trying to hang in with my previous carrier. It is at TranStewart that I am doing well at. Smaller is Definately better, and the higher volume of work is slowly getting me out the hole.

Thanks Jerry & Sarah, Hats off to the Girls

Reduced rate has to be sometimes if making up for it in the miles. I know, spinning your wheels off for reduced rate kind of defeats the purpose but you gotta do what you gotta do. Abejr2004 and Rollinthunder , could I ask what your average miles are ? THANK YOU !!

Well like i was saying earlier i didnt want this to turn into a pick on one carrier thing.I just wanted to hear from other people at other carriers to see whats going on there. There is no way for any of us to know what others are seeing and doing unless we ask.

Jaminjim, if you dont me asking are you running solo or team? Also what kind of miles are you seeing weekly.I have talked to other drivers from other carriers and they are saying the same as you. They are not hauling for a reduced rate UNLESS they are in a bad freight area such as Loreado or kansas city which i think is ok to haul at a reduced rate to get back into freight area.Im also hearing the same on fuel surcharge most are 15 to 21 cents a mile.
So i did some figuring if i hauled 1500 miles a week at full rate of $1.20 plus a decent fuel surcharge of say 18 cents a mile thats 1.38
$2070 a week or at the rate we are going $1.14 plus 8 cents for FS is $1830 week. That dont sound like much but just think thats $240 a week times 52 weeks.Or almost a full tank of fuel a week.Maybe im just slow but how many of you would like a extra $200 to $300 a week or maybe every other week.
Is it safe to say that most SOLO straight trucks are getting 1500 miles a week
$240@52 weeks equals $12,480 dollars
Or
$240 say for 26 weeks is $6,240 dollars.

WE run as a team, the amount of miles varies according to the time of year. But to give a swag I would say 3,000 to 3,500 miles a week is easy to do.

why run 3000 miles if you can make the same money in 2000,you have to learn how to run smart, not hard

Creacher, I see you are geting your colors....
And for those above... If you run for a lesser rate you run for the wrong company.........

Depends on what company you run for. Based on what is being said in another thread, I don't make loaded what they are reporting as all miles.

Running a solo D unit here @ Leam. Took first load on this years statement on 12-28. Year to date to the trk-all inclusive is $11,773. on 7020 loaded miles. Since we don't get paid for deadhead, unless you get a little agent kiss to entice you on a load, I didn't figure in deadhead. This is regular freight,no FEMA or other BIG dollor stuff, however, deadhead is up bigtime and so is waiting. Also hoping for busier times to come.

P.S. Anyone know of a good place for liftgate repairs east coast / midwest?

I see 2 of you are on with transtewart and say nice things. I have but 1 question how many loaded miles do you average per week. I am very close to leaving my carrier , which is tough because I am pretty happy there. Jerry and Sarah said their drivers average 2200 loaded miles per week, is this true? For more info on me see the post "lets rate our carriers" by me thanks.
