How Many Filter Water?

Used to running all drinking water through a gravity filtration system here at home. Ordered a small personal one for the road, and it should be here before hitting the expedite journey. Do most places/truck stops object to one filling a gallon jug of tap from the facility?

It's coffee or H2O for this person, and maybe drink a couple soda's a month. Unit is very small but will provide a gallon of filtrated water per day....easily. Will they frown if I arrive with a empty plastic jug to fill at the facility?

I'm no Felix Unger and realize it's basically a camping expedition. However, do enjoy the clean taste, while some of the water out there is quite abhorrent. Anybody filter?

I have never had a objection to filling my own jug. once I did have the register person want to ring it up, thinking it was one of theirs off the shelf. It can be a problem finding a location with room to get the jug under the spout. Stay away from the spouts at the fuel island. Often they do not have safe water

In recent times I have gone to filling about 6 gal at home, we have a reverse osmosis unit that produces what I like. Guess I`m a Wateraholic, like you.

I have a Brita water bottle I got at Lowe's. The filter is good for 40 gallons and then should be replaced. The bottle with 1 filter is about $9 and a 2 pack of filters is about the same. It's the first time water hasn't tasted bad but I just don't like water.

I keep a gallon's worth of water in small gatorage bottles in my fridge. When I visit family and friends I fill up with tap water. Away from civilization, I refill the bottles from one gallon jugs that I purchase. I have a survival style filter that I keep in my go-bag for emergencies. Something to consider--the gallon water/milk jugs don't last long in a vehicle. The bouncing around creates pinhole leaks. The jugs are sturdy enough to get the product to market but not much farther.

i fill up 3 1 gallon jugs @ home b4 i leave..i havew the worlds best well water @ home...if i run out on the road i buy more @ wal-mart

Some nice suggestions and experiences so far. Seems people have given this some thought and know how it's done in many formats. Like redytrk, I drink water almost exclusively. Thanks for the many tips and tricks. Feedback is much appreciated and good to know I can fill up at the stop. Those island stations are caution.....it seems?

Hopefully get a feel of it, and how long I'll be out. Could be the few gallons ahead of time could be the ticket but I'd feel kinda funny without taking the actual device. It's actually less size than a plastic gallon jug, but the folks here have me thinking.

I'm borderline whacko about my water. I used to own a reverse osmosis filtration system that also oxygenized my water. When I moved I took that system out of my house & gave it to my folks. To this day I pretty much only drink water that comes out of my folks house. It's kind of neat that I've got all these gallon jugs of water that has little bubbles in em sort of like you'd see in a soda bottle.

Whether it's that much better or just in my head, I always feel better about drinking that water.

Not here to advertise and please don't get me wrong but I'm sold on the candle ceramics for basic gravity water filtration. Also picked up some ready to eat meals for the travels, but that's another thread.

Truckers think about at least three things; eating, drinking, and driving. Ooops, that don't sound real good, but I think we know the meaning.

A good source of crystal clean water @ truck Stops is ICE.
from those soda machines .
over time i learned to detect the ones that have a built in ICE maker,
rather then the ones where the employee have to fill a bucket of ICE from the top.
get one of those oversize coffee cup,
go inside and fill it up. no one will ever question you.

also back in the days when i drove a pu, i used my 'camelBack',

hang it from the back of the drivers seat, and Zip it down the road.
get the one that can handle ice cubes .

I use the Donny and Marie reverse Osmond system. It gives me a refreshing Latter Day Saints Holy Water without all the fluoride. I also drink water straight, no chaser, from lakes in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park, so what do I know? Got giardia? Watch out where the beavers go!

It's funny, I do the same thing. I paid a lot of money several years ago for a treatment facility installed in my house and now I carry my water everywhere. I even test my water on a monthly basis. On the road and run out I use Brita. City water now is nothing more than treated sewerage and chemicals. If you don't believe that just visit a water treatment facility and get a tour. You'll never drink plain water again.

Dasani by the case at Wally World. Never go home to refill and refresh. Glad there is bottled water that tastes good. Just drop a few in the ice chest and enjoy liquid libation on the black tops of life. In the new recyclable bottles it is a perpetual motion product. We did our part to save the planet by not cranking out kids. So we can splurge on the bottled water.

I laugh when i buy water most of the time. The water that says the source is from Michigan is the water from the area where I grew up. My sister used to fill gallons when she went up there and would bring them back to Lansing
