It is way too bad 9/11 happened, but I hafta kinda think it's way too bad the Trade building is so short. Think, in a lotta cases we would be better off.

I'd hafta say the U.N. building would have been best for our future.

True....but I feel better buying something from the EU, at least they have rules and conditions similar to the US (ie they can't dump stuff in the river or abuse their employees too bad. At least the Mexican stuff might help expediting a bit.

It's too bad all I hear from the candidates is they want to attack NAFTA as the evil, NAFTA has been around for a while, and while it hurt some things I don't think it is responsible for the slide in the last 4 years or so. I will qualify that by saying I am Canadian and I have watched the economy here in Ontario grow (because of NAFTA) and now tank because the US is slowing and our dollar is high.

I hope it all sorts out without much pain or $4.25 a gallon diesel!!!

piper,
The problem is people don't think about long term anymore. They are just concerned with the here and now, and how things affect them. Who cares if it costs someone on the other side of the country their job type mentality. It's sad. People want a good bargain for the moment and don't care what long term consequnces it has. I heard, and it could be just rumor, that right after 9/11 Wal-Mart had to pull the majority of their American flags off the shelf because people were outraged that they had a little tag on the little wooden pole that said Made in Afganistan. Again that could be false, but it wouldn't shock me. Very few products Wal-Marts sales are American made. Plus they treat their employees like crap. A bunch of my friends from high school worked their. I try to go anywhere but Wal-Mart to buy anything. Now my step mom on the other hand spends every dime she can on that cheap trash they have up there. I used to shop their outdoor section. Not anymore. I go to Gander Mountain where the packages say Made in the USA.

that is exactly why I need $4 per mile freight and I am demanding it sure its more demanding than expedite and you run alot less miles but they are all loaded miles.

sure the economy is in the crapper but you aint seen nothing yet cause once that fuel hits $4+ and they start paying us more they will have to sell the items even higher to cover the extra shipping maybe in a few years when all of us truckers see things my way the working class will respect what we give up so them big city folk can have everything at their fingertips.I say dont wait for fuel to go up just bump your rate to $4 now and it will again be like it was when fuel was .95 per gal.

sure most everyone but a trucker will be going broke just buying what they need to survive but after the years of abuse that o/o have taken is that really our problem as long as we got fuel money plus enough to live on who cares.

in fact lets get rid of the jit or expedite cause its dead we need to figure out how to make each load we haul pay $3.00 for straights and $4 for tractors

I'm going to suggest, when I was a contractor, like most of you JIT gave us a large head, making us think we really were special. In reality, was/are simply rolling warehouses.

Get involved with an organization the does in fact do some needed moves for customers and your rates will get there. Problem with many places, the skills, or interest just is not there in the dispatch or driving force to capitalize on the capacity you offer with your equipment. Therefor, you are being paid for what you run in your "warehouse".
