It usually boils down to fear or outrage with conservatives. Which is it this time? I'm guessing fear because we've all known about sharia law for a long time now.
So let's deal with your fear. What exactly are you afraid of when it comes to sharia law? That people in Saudia Arabia have to live that way? I agree, it's a bad thing. Are you afraid that you're going to have to answer to a sharia court? That's funny. Are you afraid that courts practicing sharia law will happen in the US? There have probably been every kind of "court" imaginable in this country, on a small scale - isolated incidents. And whether the pretense of the court is race, religion, gubment interference, or a sexual perversion they have to worry about getting caught. We have laws here and we enjoy locking people up and throwing away the keys. No reason to be all ascared.
Why the obsession with fear and outrage on the right? Just read some of the thread titles in this forum. It's an outrage how outraged people get over nothing.
Edit: Btw, I don't mean all thread titles and some things really are an outrage.

With religious fanatics/wingnuts it usually boils down to a simple "My-faith-is-right-and-everyone-else's-is-wrong" - which of course gives rise to extreme religious bigotry ...
The ones you have to really keep an eye on are the ones that appear relatively normal and fairly quiet ... they're like ticking time bombs ...

I just had a funny thought. Since we're by far the world's leading jailer (nobody puts more of their own people in prison than we do), I wonder if they use that fact to get people riled up in a place like Saudi Arabia. "American courts are coming, American courts are coming, we're all doomed!!!!!".

Gawd, I feel old reading this!
I saw Dylan in concert in 2000, and complained that his singing was so whiny I couldn't understand the words - and I already knew the words!
Now, I'm wondering...
That makes more sense! Not being secular in their private life, but wanting their government to be - I think that works well, myself.
