How it works, (sorta like how it's made)

I've been doing this expedite thing now for a while (8 years) and I still have no real idea how it all comes together from start to finish.
I have been noticing a lot of posting errors on the so called load boards, as well as the same job, with different job numbers repeated all day long, like I saw Friday posted 6 times, with small variations, like zip code and city, with a few miles difference, also, have seen same freight with count and weight a little different, my pimps tell me it's all the same freight, and they sometimes won't even bid on it for me, as they dislike the brokers involved and have a hard time dealing with them, including getting paid on time (that's a whole other story I'm sure). How does freight move from one dock to the next, and get listed, do the shippers call for a pick-up and how is it handled, I'm sure I have done pickups at freight docks of truck lines, because someone has dropped the ball, and screwed up, with the freight still sitting for a few days, How do freight loads, get posted to boards like the alliance/slyectus, etc...........and how do the same loads show up on panther, and fed-x as well??????????? it's getting wierd out there!
Can anyone close the gap in my mind as whats' the real deal, and how it works( if ya can call it that) I come from a structured confused industry (entertainment, so I'm very curious about how things work . I'll step back and read the results of this thread..

I think you answered your own question. Many brokers post the same load in numerous places. Most of the time looking for the place that will do it the cheapest. Or, game playing one company against the other.

I love sausage. From what I've been told, you do NOT want to see how it's made. I have a feeling a lot of freight is like this: My job is to move it from the shipper to the receiver. How it gets to the point where I get the job might be something I'm better off not knowing.

I've heard it said knowledge is power so id say having a good understanding of what goes on would be helpful im still trying to figure out what areas to avoid lol
