I have not weighed myself lately. I am having trouble keeping my pants from sliding down and will soon have to buy a new, SMALLER, belt. I am out of holes to cinch up on. SLOWLY but surely the excess is coming off.

Good job. I peaked at 302 in July '08. I was 278 at my doctor appt. a few weeks ago. No diet, I'm just trying to be generally more sensible. It's not gonna go away fast though...

I lost a good bit while I was home. If I could hunt or fish all the time I would lose most if not all of my excess. It is amazing how MOVING causes weight lose. I was able to walk in the woods. The soft ground does not hurt my bad knees. The fresh air was WONDERFUL!! No burned diesel, no stale urine. It was QUITE too!
It is funny but when I am out hunting or fishing I eat FAR less during the day and even during dinner when I get home.

I'm proud of my hubby for losing all that weight...I'm still maintaining but only because I can hop on the treadmill and keep active. That and chasing cats...the baby just pulled a whole chain of beads off the christmas tree and then led me on a merry little chase...

Layout if your knees bother you TRY these over the counter pills. MSM 1000 mg ( methylsulfonylmethane ) they promote JOINT ELASTICITY and FLEXIBILITY . I have been taking these for 6 weeks and they have helped my one knee greatly ( other one had no problem ) and also lost 17 lbs.while still eating 3 + full meals a day . I still do my full chores daily including loaded out 4,200 head of fat hogs (290) lb. ave. during those 6 weeks . LOL that included getting RUN over a few times. OH by the way I'm not overweight now 158 lbs. and 5' 9" and 52 years YOUNG . lol have a good day drivers.

So after all the hoopla over Nurtisystems, I was given a challenge to try it out and see if I lost weight. Tried their Diabetic Diet ... well lets say that it didn't work out and that when I saw my doctor in the ER, she was not too thrilled about the menu or its ingredients - "Who in their right mind would claim to be a low GI diet and have potatoes on the menu?"

The above post appears to imply that the Nutrisystem-D diet plan is ineffective and even possibly dangerous?

For those of you who have been diagnosed with diabetes and are looking for a diet plan to help manage blood glucose levels and lose body fat I would take the above statements with a grain of salt.
The Nutrisystem-D plan was well thought out by dieticians and then tested in a clinical trial (The effects of a commercially available weight los... [Postgrad Med. 2009] - PubMed result) before being widely implemented to consumers with no adverse effects.

If someone did follow the plan exactly and ended up in the emergency room due to a blood glucose control related incident it would most likely be due to the failure to closely monitor their changing blood glucose levels and adjust their medications accordingly. It is recommended that any patient implementing a diet or lifestyle change that will alter their average daily blood glucose levels notify their physician first.

FYI- Potatoes can easily be incorporated into a low glycemic diet. GI can vary from low to high based on the type of potato, how they are prepared and portion size. For example, sweet potatoes and yams are low glycemic while new potatoes are medium. Even high GI potatoes such as white baked potatoes can be lowered to medium by boiling or steaming during preparation. Also, reducing portion size can effect the overall glycemic load of a food giving it the same glycemic response of a lower GI food.

This is not an endorsement of the Nutrisystem diet. It is more of a response to a seemingly unfair and inaccurate review of the diet by one person. It would be a shame for someone to dismiss a plan that could help them manage their condition based on the conclusion of one individual.

congrads!! to all whom lost some of that weight.
i have not wieghed myself in a while.... but doing my best to eat right..... and get out and walk ..walk ,. walk.....
i get them quart size bottles of water and make green tea. 2 bags to 1 quart, i have gotten use to drinking this with NO sugars, NO fake sugars, NO honey.. sometimes a tad of lemon .. i drink about 1 of these a day.. im bad at drinking water so this kinda trick myself into doing so. lol

they say when shopping for foods.. when going into a super market... shop to the outside walls.. produce, meats, dairy....... the isles .. are all mostly processed foods.

yesterday . had to drive and was hungry ..... i had a rotissary chicken , which i cut up some meat from breast, and a couple seedless tangerines.. put it all in a bowl and was able to eat it going down the road.... I buy a lot of rotissary's.. but NOT from wa mart.. i find theres to taste like it soaked in heavy salt.
I cook in my truck too , a crock pot... i do not buy meat from wal mart either, maybe some frozen fish is about it... i do get cereals and other things there.. had a coupel bad experiences with there meats... heavy salt.. yep un cooked meat.. it was so salted up that i took it bk and got my money back .. i offerd for them at service desk to taste it...... they wouldnt .. lol
i get a lot of them bags of frozen rice steam in the bag stuff, u can pour what u want in a bowl , cover with paper towel for a few min. and its done... chicken and rice.. the south west flavor one is my favorite.
I like hitting local super markets for foods for truck....... the whole/fresh food markets are my favorite.. google there locations when in different areas. :)

please excuse my spelling.....

Humble,
Sometimes products are created with a middle of the road people in mind. Many of these products do work well for most but it is something that people need to discuss with their Doctor first if they have other issue.

I won't get into a discussion with you, I have a fruit and sugar intolerance that limits me in many ways. I have not found a dietitian who understands what they means or can setup a good diet - they seem to follow the same guidelines and I have been told it is impossible for someone to have a fruit intolerance. However I have access to a lot of doctors with MD and a lot of other letters behind their name and they have been advising me for a while - I didn't take their advice about the boxed food. They also agree with my position that Dietitians are not doctors.

The product is good for many, but it is not good for all. If you think I am the only one, call up Nutrisystems and talk with their people - they told me I am not the only one who has had serious problems by any means and they refunded the balance for the food I purchased without a problem. I got a follow up call from one of there staff doctors who knew about the issue but didn't think it was worth putting an advisory out on the site.

I strongly recommend to anyone who is type 2 or even 1 to consult with your doctor if you are going to use the product, don't take the word of an ad or anyone else.
